I'm sure this has been asked many a time before - but a quick search and I can't quite find the answer I'm looking for (possibly just not looking in the right place!).

I resigned from the MET in June 2010 but am now thinking of rejoing. What is the current procudure?
Assuming I'll need to start from scratch again (small hope I may not have to).

More that a year you have to do all of it again - if I remember correctly. Did you leave after March 2010, adn if so were you IPS on the new system?

It does depend how long you were in, as said above, whether you were independant patrol status. I've known a few people rejoin who just had to sit a knowledge check and UDT recerts, if they struggled they were put on which ever module was needed with the next special intake. If you didnt gain IPS then its likely you'll go back from beginning.

Thank you for all the replies. I resigned in June 2010 because I planned on moving out of the UK. Long story but that never really happened despite to-ing and fro-ing between 2 countries for a few months, I ended up back here (I was never out of the UK for more than 12 weeks at a time).
I didn't have IPS (not to my knowledge anyway - if I had to gain that through a process, it's not something I recall doing).
I worked in TW for 3 years and have now dropped one of the Sergeant's an email.
What a shame if I have to redo it all!

The training has changed hugely and is now 23 days. you can do it various ways, weekends, weekdays and a mixture of the two.

To be fair there was a thread about Why people left, I don't think he was picking at the OP particularly just interested in what about their circumstances had changed and changed again.

Was just curious and wasn't a demand, was expecting a horror story of working for selected force but meant no harm by asking

It could be personal reasons why bloo left in the first place. He or she posted for advice about rejoining and has chosen not to say why they left originally and that privacy should be respected.

If he didn't want to post his reasons he wouldn't have after Andy asked, dont think he meant any harm.

That's fabulous news. Thank you.

@ Andy_M - no horror story. In fact the complete opposite. Hence wanting to rejoin.
