I was at the Empress State building the other day and stumbled apon the MET collection ( http://www.met.polic...collection.html ). For history enthusiasts I would definately recommend it. Some great black and white pathe films from the early 1900s, medal collections with stories of heroism (including those of specials) and some great historic uniform. The piece of uniform that suprised me was a spiked metal collar issued to police officers who were in danger of being garrotted!... If you have family in the police and want to research tem, this is the place to go!

It's also worth noting they have are a lot more items than they can display at once, so they rotate the exhibits. It's worth popping back in each month for another look.

Theres a small photo set on the Mets flickr stream from the opening day here (page 2)

If anyone hasn't seen the MPS historic fleet, we'll be taking it to Brooklands again this year

(main thread - http://www.policespe...y-services-day/)

With the impending closuire of TDT the future of the fleet is up in the air so it may be one of the last chances to see them all together
