Sorry, should've made that clear, done before attestation. No further training after attestation apart from PLC as everything learnt now is all we need. Specials attested before the gateway came in still have to come back and complete training as it wasn't included in the original training.

Not quite accurate. PEACE training comes towards end of tutor phase which will allow you to take statements from witnesses and victims.

You may see me then if you go to Aldershot.

In the Northern Venues, you'll be taught by a cracking guy called Iain (he's on here, but i'll leave him to reveal himself if he wants). You're likely to have 1-3 other people in your sessions, where as compared to Netley there are about 30 others in a class xD I had a couple of one on ones, was great!

Hey Mayday, we will have the pleasure of this Iain chap, and this lot of northern workshops are at Odiham and Basingstoke firestations. Which is awesome, because for me it'll take no time at all to get to both venues :)

Wahey! :)

Yeah, a suit is the way to go, and its pretty much everything that I described in one of my previous posts! :) Its very relaxed, so no tenseness as with the assessment and/or fitness tests! :)

Tomorrow mate! Then for the next few weeks at the Northern venues, then taking July off, then doing a week of them in August at Netley. It will all be reveiled at the Induction, booking on to them is very easy! :) Also mate, from my timetable there doesn't seem to be any IOW ones booked in over the coming months (Only Northern and Netley), so whilst your down at the induction, enquire with the gateway team and see what the score is. Also, the guy who organises all the workshops is great, he'll be more than happy to take any questions you have on this next stage of the training whilst your there at the induction! :D

Sounds good! :)

HampshireDave got his first 3 through the post because he was in a earlier intake than me, but for me (and the rest of Dave's), we got them all via email. I got mine 2 days before the induction, as occording to the email, you have to complete the first 3 before the induction. So yes, they come in a separate email to the induction invite, just remember to fill out the attachments of the invite email and bring them with you. :)

Hi all.

Isleofwightdan, chances are you'll get an email from the Gateway team detailing dates for Isle of Wight workshops; thats what I got.

I've got one workshop left before my final exam on 11th June.

The workshops are really good on the island, theres only 8 of us in the classes so theres plenty of opportunities to ask questions and make pals! We started back in the end of March so it's quite an intensive 3 months. It might not be the same for you but it'll be very similar I would've thought.

Have fun at the induction and let me know if you have any questions regarding island training!

Yeah it was Sgt Mike. He's really great to talk to. Also, in the lessons because he's an active Sgt, he's able to give operational examples on the material we're learning which helps it sink in... Something which you don't always get at Netley being taught by a member of police staff.

Our training is actually done at Newport and is usually every week from about half 6 in the evening... Bit of a ###### seeing as the front desk closes at 6 now! I chose Newport or Cowes as my preferred stations but I believe I've been confirmed at Cowes which I'm chuffed with! Don't know what section I'm in yet.

Hi, I wouldn't worry about the medical date just yet.. I didn't get notified for mine until after Induction A.

As for the workbooks, I recall I received the first four and the pre-employment disc when I attended the JRFT... Might've changed since then perhaps. Just give Netley a bell as you should really complete those four before you attend Induction A.

I got mine Dan 3 days before the Induction A, so don't worry, there's about a week to go! :)

If you haven't recieved them, do what SC Richarson suggests, ring Peter (the gentleman who sent you the Induction A invite) at gateway and enquire :)

Evening all
quick couple of questions.
Those of you who have done are in the middle of the gateway program at netley, did any of you do the faster track process where it could be done in less than a month and if so did you find it hard where it was all crammed in a short space of time?
Last question for those of you who have done the program on the island. how often were the workshops and do you know when the next program will start as no one seems to be able to give me any answers.
Im stuck as to whether pay the transport costs on the boats or wait for answer about the island program

Hey mate, I didn't, I taking my time with the workshops due to other things on, but from what I've done so far, they are not too bad, a month may be a pushing it, but 8-10 weeks is the normal time for it :)

Apology for the double post there, on my phone and there doesn't seem to be an edit function... :)

As Chaser said, it can be done in that time, but just bare in mind that you might not be able to actually take in all the information in that short period.. I know I couldn't! Remember you've got an exam at the end of it all. It took me about 2 1/2 months to complete the workshops and pass the exam.

As for Island training my workshops were every week. I can't tell you about any forthcoming dates, I really don't know. I started doing the workshops at Netley and after the fourth one I was notified there would be ones on the Island. Just had to bite the bullet and pay.
