I was just wondering if PCSOs have a passing out parade, the same as Police Officers? :aok:

The Metropolitan Police have a kind of "graduation ceremony" where family and friends of newly appointed PCSOs get to see them called up one by one on to a podium to receive their certificates.

Clearly force dependant then, as we in SurPol got a handshake off our course managers, handed our stab vests and sent on our way. Which made us feel really valued... Not. Real shame for all the younger ones on my course, the 18/19 year olds who'd never been to college, first job etc. I bet their parents would have loved to come along.

We got a handshake from a boss whilst being given our ID cards.

What force was that?
It's a shame that PCSOs in some forces don't get the recognition they deserve.
My step-son is a Met PCSO and the family were invited to attend Hendon to see him pass out.

He has been accepted as a PC and we look forward to seeing it again.

Yea, shame really but that's just the way it went for us.

Hampshire have a graduation ceremony, family and friends, speeches, slide show, tea and medals.

Exactly the same as Regular officers and Specials.

No parade.

When I was a PCSO it was only a ceremony in front of your colleagues, no family involved and a handshake off the boss :aok:

Kent do a ceremony in the hall (certificate handing out by Chief Super + photo) then a quick "line up and fall out" outside. All in front of friends / family.

...I was the only ###### standing to attention mind you. Slackers!

Sounds like a nice little idea!
