Hi, I had my assessment day a couple of days ago and was wondering, provided I've passed (although the interview went painfully badly so maybe I didn't), how long should I expect to have to wait for a fitness test and medical?

Also after that how long in your experience does everything else take?

Cheers

Hi mate,

I'm currently in Gateway and have passed medical. They're doing my vetting at the moment.

It took about 22 days to get any correspondance from them about my assessment day, but, this was because of Christmas. You could potentially hear back from them next week, providing all is well. The fitness test is pretty simple and they usually run pretty regularly, mine was end of January. After that you get some forms sent to you via post. Full these out and send them off, these include your medical forms which need a doctor and opticians signature. Then you have to go to a medical assessment at Netley. Then you do your Induction A and Gateway....

The process so far is in my signature below and I first attended the assessment day on 4th December, tomorrow is my 5th and 6th Gateway sessions, hopefully that gives you an idea of the time frame.

In addition to Fidel's great advice, there are a couple of timescales from other people including my own for applicants to Hampshire in this thread.

http://www.policespe...itment-process/

From my experience, I got my results back about 2 and a half weeks after my assessment, and in the email, I got given my fitness date which is around a month after the email comes through. Then its just like Fidel says, if your sucessful at the fitness test, you get sent your vetting and medical forms to fill in (Mine came in an email) and a gateway (Pre-join modules) CD. I'm still waiting for mine after a week and a bit since my fitness test, so expect it to come in about 2 weeks or so. Hope this helps :)

No, you will be invited to Induction A after you have completed the CD and its relevant questions. Your vetting shall be taking place throughout your induction A gateway training and should hopefully be completed once you have finished gateway. I have almost completed gateway and my vetting is complete. As soon as I have finished my gateway training I shall be moving onto Induction B, or Foundation as it is also known.

So send off your questions and get an invite to induction A and your gateway workshops and hopefully once vetting is passed, you will be plain sailing from there.

If you've found out then ignore me, but if you haven't, then it generally takes a couple of days, although could be slightly longer, mine took 2 weeks to get marked. :)

Guys, getting a bit confused here. One of my answers has come back incorrect.

Which of the following is an example of subordinate legislation?

  • The Theft Act
  • The Homicide Act
  • PACE Codes of Conduct
  • The Road Traffic Act

Now, I The Road Traffic Act as, on the power-point slide it shows that there was an amendment under subordinate legislation, where the wearing of seatbelts was made a law under the Road Traffic Act. Now, previously I put PACE as, much like the previous that was shown on there as well. I'm rather baffled.

Unfortunately the rules of the forum state that we are not allowed to help or aid you through the answers of the training or anything that coheres to your training. It's something you're going to have to complete yourself unfortunately.

What a daft rule. What's wrong with helping people to learn? Provided they learn it correctly of course!

Edot to add: Actually, I've just perused the forum rules and can't find that one, so X-ADZ-X if you want to PM me I'll see if I can guide you to the correct answer. I won't give it to you, but it'll be fairly easy to help you achieve your aim. I can't PM you 'cos your message box says it's full.

If I'm wrong and the rule is there then it's still daft!

Well I'll be. I stand completely corrected on that one. Either I'm going senile at the age of 18 or I need to learn to read! (doh!) Yes Adz, speak to Capt. Carrot, I'm sure he definitely will know the answer for you! (If he doesn't then I'll be worried :aok:)

Edit: Looks like I need spelling lessons too!

You don't have too, but they are useful to refer to in the Workshops. Plus if you don't print them, how will you prove you've done the tasks in them, if your tutor asks? ;)

Yah good point! I went through a pack and a half of paper! Need to buy another folder too! Although Tesco have a brilliant PNB style note pad for £3 so not cost too much.

Looking at the training times, my final exam will be in a month! Scary.

I printed mine all off, honestly it is alot easier, I've brought mine with me on holiday, so when it rains (as it will do and has...) they are good to break out and work through :)

Highlighter xD

It all depends on your personal learning method - i don't learn from making notes, so i just highlighted important parts, and if needed referred back to them.

Well I've got my note book infront of me, in which I'm noting down key points to remember. I don't have any highlighters, but usually if I find something I do not understand then I'll go find the definition. I'm finding music on the background is helping too =]

]From what people have been saying probably October-November time. When I had my Induction A in May, I had a very busy schedule with work and exams but I have my gateway exam next week! :) Will probably be on the September Induction B all going well. But yeah, coming up to a year since applying, but I'm just glad I've got this far :) Vetting took just under 4 months.

For me Adz, I read the booklets and do the exercises in them, they really help. Have you heard about Potmoodle? If you have, check it out there is good stuff on there which helps with learning the different laws etc, if you haven't talk to your tutor about it! :)
