I have just been warned for a mutual aid deployment to the Met from GMP for the Olympics.
Sadly I have the 20th to the 27th July on days on a beat duty. So I'll miss all the Olympic events. However, at least my deployment will be done with straight away and I can watch the rest at home.
Anyone else have MA duties yet?

Which (if previous london military events are anything to go by) is likely to be Brunel Uni. Once you figure out where you are the accomodation isn't too bad actually. Obviously some rooms are smaller than others but not uncomfortably so (that said i was only using the facilities for 1 night)

It's no odds to me either way.
Hopefully theyll open the student union bars for us and charges the student rate, but I'm optimistic I think.

We stayed at halls all over greater London and Hertfordshire during the August riots. Good accommodation and and generally quite well looked after. A few beers in the evening, even some provided by the uni on arrival at one place! the cars were doing a roaring trade from all the job there so I can't see them missing out on that again... We also took a trip to the nearest supermarket and got a few (!) cases for when the bars closed... Good times!
I'm not going to Town for anything this summer so far... I think some of my colleagues are going for a few days but that's all. I'm not even down to do anything in force for it yet!?

I go down for 3 weeks at the end of July. Should be good, no idea what we're doing or any details other than when we go!

Hertfordshire Uni is on the list for MA accommodation... If you make it onto the de Havilland campus then you may well end up staying in my old room!

That's one of the places I stayed during the riots. They're the ones that dished out beers to us on arrival! Really good facilities I thought, and breakfast was better than the other places too... If I was going back this summer I'd take swimming and sports kit and would thank my lucky stars that I got a decent place!

I wouldn't mind coming down and helping out, but I don't think a probationer from Scotland is likely to get a shift, lol!

I believe we are sending some folk down, but having only a few months service, I wouldn't be one that'd qualify.
