The Cambs Police website has just in the last few hours put up an application to attend an evening on recruitment to become a reg. I checked the site in the early part of the afternoon.
I've just received notifications that BOTH are full.
INSANE!
This is just totally insane. I'm so angry I could spit.

I can understand your frustration harvb, but as far away as it seems the current recruitment situation will eventually ease up. Yes it will probably take a few years but one day they will be crying out for officers again.
harvb I've just been on the site, and both evenings are still advertised, and it takes me to a page to register my details. Is it after that step that they tell you that the evenings are both full?

Are you a Cambs SC already?

Yeah, it says both are full once you sign up. Nightmare.
I am a Cambs SC already, but I aint getting any younger... I was hoping to get in this year, been hanging in there for three years now just itching for the chance.
Hey ho.
Just seems a completely daft idea... The ad appears, then its full within a couple of hours. So if you miss it, what chance do you have?

Try going in via your force intranet - there may be spaces reserved for internal applicants and it is only the public spaces that are full

It does seem a little unfair, I only got a spot as I happened to be looking at the right time when it popped up in the 'current vacancies'.Yeah, it says both are full once you sign up. Nightmare.

I would hope they might do something internally too...

That's the option I'd go for too to be honest. Just rock up anyway and see what happens.Or you could just turn up in uniform - you never know...

So mixed feelings, really. On the one hand, dead chuffed and somewhat relieved that I got to the recruitment evening, but on the other hand still pretty miffed that I got kicked back initially and the irritation that went with it coupled with the feeling that it just wasn't done right.

Glad to hear you got on it Harv! See you on Wednesday then, the long road starts here (hopefully).Okay... This is an odd one. I got an email today telling me I'd been accepted as someone had dropped out.

Glad to hear it Harv I really am! Which one are you going to? I'm booked on for cambridge. It certainly has been such a long wait. Now the hard work begins
Chuffed for you mate. One step closer. Did young Douggie get a spot too?
For those already in Cambs as a PCSO, staff, or Special, the DCC has put a news article up on Camnet;
"Applications from members of staff who want to apply to become a police officer, but were unable to book on to a recruitment information evening, will be accepted DCC FEAVYOUR has decided"
The decision has been made in the light of 'unprecedented demand for spaces'
Good luck folks. It's going to be a tough process. Well worth the wait once you're here though!
