Hello

Just a quick question

I applied for South Wales PCSO and have successfully passed all stages including medical and fitness.
Having completed a security questionnaire at the start of the week it seems all i am waiting for is the vetting and references to be completed.
Does anyone know how long this usually takes?
I have ever had a run in with the law and have a good credit history along with a clean family history.
Would this speed things up?

Any replies are appreciated

Kind regards

Z

Vetting generally takes a long time, regardless.

I just got a call after 2 weeks asking me for more info.

They said they hadn't even started yet.

Hi Guys,
I was asked to push for my references, so managed to get them back to HR the same day.
I thought it was odd though that I had to chase this up - did any of you have to do this?
Once both my refs were submitted though, I received an offer letter within half hour via email & one through the post this morning.
My training starts April 10th : )
Let me know if you guys hear anything......

Hi Alctel,

Vetting and Financial checks are subjective and therefore depedent upon the individual. For example, if you reside at an address where there are 4 people living then each has to be vetted. If you only live with a partner or parents then less people have to be vetted. The more people that are vetted per household the longer vetting can take. Vetting periods are often delayed due to current and previous employer references being slowly returned! Your financial checks may take some time too. The Police Service will check your complete financial history and this includes electronic reports from all 3 Credit Reference Agencies (i.e. Call Credit, Equifax and Experian).

In my experience you will probably be looking at between 6-8 weeks when SWP aren't recruiting for other staff or 8-12 weeks when they are!
