Hi All,
Does anyone know if COLP will be recruiting Police Constables externally in 2012? If they are does anyone know when?
Any news will be very much appreciated, thank you!

Given the current backlog of applicants, and how they have treated potential applicants in the past, I sincerely doubt it.

Indeed. I'm currently in a pool of 40 that were supposed to have been recruited into CoLP last year. If they do recruit (unlikely) then we're first in line.

As far as I am aware there will be no recruitment at least until after the Olympics.

A friend of mine is COLP and he said there's no way they'll be recruiting officers externally in 2013 as they still have a load of people who passed their assessment centre and were offered jobs waiting for roles to become available.

And why are HR recruting depts so so bad in so many services and jobs?

I spoke with HR and they said they cant see ANY PC recruitment until 2014 at least.

Thanks for checking. That doesn't surprise me really. Did they say whether they would be remembering all those that applied previously to get turned away at the 11th hour?

Giraffe, are you still in the process with COLP?
I assume not as they said at the time they would keep my details on file for two years. The only thing they sent me since was a letter offering me a position as an SC.
Oh and they also called me early last year to offer me a job as a PCSO.

Are you looking at other forces then?
No - I've joined the LAS since then and my intention is for my career to be with them. I wouldn't ever rule out becoming a regular officer (with CoLP) if they offered me a place, but I won't be chasing a place with them or any other force.
