Was on duty last night, and at about 2300 (in relation to a criminal damage) the comms operator passed a message on to the units attending stating that a "Mike Oxlong" had just called in with some new information...

The best bit is that she repeated it (at the request of said units, who no doubt found it hilarious) 3 or 4 times before she twigged it.

Cue the entirety of Humberside chuckling softly to themselves.

What is the best hoax name you have come across on duty?

Not a fake name, but there was a survival expert/ex-US marine on the Gadget Show the other night (re-run on Dave) called Mike Hawk.

My neighbour, Bill Kerr couldn't understand why everyone fell about laughing when he came into our social Club one Saturday evening to announce the safe arrival of his newborn son 'Wayne'

This is no lie, I went to school with 2 brothers, Peter and Alistair Ness. Also know as P. Ness and A. Ness! Either their parents saw the funny side, or were incredibly cruel!
