Hello all, apologies if this has already been covered i have done a couple searches of the forum.

A while back i adjusted my body armour to be slightly taller and tighter as it felt loose and came up to my belly button.

I am 6'1-2" with a very tall body. I fit it to an inch above my belt and as tight as will go- while still being able to fit fleece underneath, and a very tight squeeze if i put a hi-viz tabard on top of the fleece, but under the armour while on Anti Violence.

Does anyone on here have any knowledge on general fitting guidelines?

i appreciate different forces use different armour and people have different bodies.

Thanks for any replies.

*An example of the information i'm looking for is i was told by one special that it it too loose if you can fir more than two fingers between the armour and your belly.

I got told you should only ever wear your polo and fleece under a stabvest as it doesn't work properly IF anything did happen, but then again I don't know whether you have klickfast docks on your hi vis like we do.

Anyway, I have my stabvest fitted the same, around an inch above my belt and have it quite tight but bot too tight that it's restrictive. I also wear a hi vis tac vest aswell which is fitted the same.. But my vests were fitted by our tailoring dept. Why bot nip in and ask someone to fit it you properly then you know it's done right.

Hi Joss, no our high-vis tabards do not have docks on, we wear them over the top on traffic, but on anti-violence it all goes under our amour.

Thats a sensible idea, i live 40 miles from our HQ where the fitting stores are, but i'm sure ill be nearby sometime soon i'll pop in. Thanks for the advice.

You should have been told how to wear it when it was issued to you.
It should be as close to the skin as possible and as tight as is comfortable. This gives you the best possible ballistic value.
If you need further info or want a fitting then contact uniform stores, I have the number if you need it.

When I had mine fitted they said they have a standard policy that one chap fits it and then someone else always checks the fit as it is so important.

Do make sure of your overlap too at the sides!! (at least a inch they told me)

Cheers,
S

Give it a few months of disrupted eating patterns and snacking... you will soon expand into to it. Posted Image

No in PPE they told us how to adjust it but otherwise the fit wasn't taught to us.
I still have the number saved thank you anyway :)

No no, I like to think the body armour has shrunk proportionately to the amount of haribo I eat on duty... very strange relationship I must admit but clearly the only explanation.

My fitting was basically "Try that on!" That was about it really, its all been trial and error from there on. I've only just managed to get a nice comfy fit!
