Just got an email from Leicestershire police hq...

Thank you for your enquiry.

Your application form was received on Friday and short listed yesterday.

Unfortunately, your application form just failed to meet the required to standard. You will receive a letter from us shortly explaining this in further detail.

I got a similar response from my first application. I failed due to spelling and grammar (some very obvious mistakes). My advice is to triple proof-read and if you can get somebody else to read through, do that too. It's very easy to read what you want to read, despite what is actually written down in front of you.

Luckily, my subsequent application was accepted and I go for assessment next month.

Try again in 6 months... chin up and don't let it knock you back. Take whatever advice they give and work on it.

Happened to me too. Had to wait 6 months! Was gutted at the time, but time heals all.

I was to hasty on my first application, didn't read the questions.

I submitted my next application 6 months later after reading the questions and spending some time on it. I PASSED this time.

So just stick with it! That is what the whole process is about, showing you have the determination and focus.

So don't worry.

Sorry to hear your news! I guess all you can do is read the letter, and spend the 6 months sorting out the issues and getting super fit! Then be 300% the officer you would have been this time!

Spoken to the recruitment team leader and she told me that failed by 1 mark. The scenario I gave in the competancy test was about an angry customer I had to deal with in the past. All was well but missed out something so basic, and that is not noting I apologised to the customer at the end of it.

I think may of been way too hasty as well. Caught up in the excitement maybe. Definitely have the determination. Going in there next time all guns blazing!

Thanks, will do

I intend on spending the 6 months as you said. Going to do a fair bit of excersising and research.

Somewhat ironic given the grammar fail in the response from them...

Don't worry or let it put you off. I too failed on my first application and was gutted. I sat out the 6 months, re-applied and now start training next week. Seems as though a few people fail first time. Don't let it get you down mate.

Sorry to hear that mate! I'm gutted for you, I handed mine in today and I'm now thinking 's**t did I miss that out or I forgot to add this'
Well only time will tell, I REALLY don't want to have to wait another six months!!! Posted Image

Chin up though mate and as others have said, use the next six months wisely if its what you want, NEVER give up!

My commiserations mate. I could fill a large filing cabinet with the rejections I have received from the police.

Now I've finally managed to fool them into accepting me and permitting me to drive the cars, my glorious revenge is nigh. Posted Image

On a serious note I'd be happy to assist you with any future application if you want the help. Keep trying and you'll get there.

Thanks fr the overwhelming support guys. :aok: As horrid as it may sound, it doesn't seem as bad when you know so many people have been through the same thing! Besides, half a year will fly by! Gives me time to prepare in so many ways.
DS168, if I remember in six months time, I'll definitely take you up on that offer!
Tom-999, petergriffin92 - it'll take a lot more than that to put me off the idea! I'm more determined than ever Posted Image
Hope everyone else's application process/training goes well!

Just an update and a question, my dads friend is a police constable in a nearby town and is looking in to me sitting in on one of his and his colleagues shifts on a ride along. Hopefully that comes to fruition as its something I'd love to experience.
As for my question, I understand that I cannot now re-apply for Leicestershire constabulary until August, but would I be able to apply for another force?

Good luck with the ride along mate!

As for your question, hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately you cant apply to become a special or regular for any police force in England or Wales within 6 months, it is really frustrating in my opinion, but I can see why they have the rule in place. You can however apply to become a PCSO if the opportunity arises.

Hi Tom, Ah nevermind, thought as much anyway.
Yeah, really hoping the ride along goes ahead and gets approved! That'd be something to really look forward to. Also looking forward to the Leics Specials Seminar on the 9th. I'm sure ll come away more determined than ever.

Not quite

You can't apply to be a special in any Home Office police force for the next 6 months. You can however apply for any regulars posts that may come up (as they are different assessment processes).

Vice Versa - if you had failed a regulars application then you couldn't apply to be a regular in any HO force for 6 months but could apply to the specials

Burnie, what I have put above has always been the case has it not? When I and many others failed the regular BTP recruitment campaign we received a nice letter from them that had a FAQ page - this said the following:

8. If I am unsuccessful in becoming a police officer, can I apply to become a special constable?
If you have been unsuccessful in the recruitment campaign to become a police officer you must wait 6 months from the time you have been notified of the outcome of your application before you may apply to become a Special Constable with any police service. You may only apply to BTP if we have any current vacancies

This was the info given to me from BTP and its the same info that I have always been led to believe through reading on here and on other websites?

I hope your wrong as I waited patiently for 6 months before submitting my Leicestershire specials application! Haha Posted Image

Hmmm! Well no point me worrying about it now! I waited my 6 months, cant go back and change it! Haha!

I think the 6 months does help though as it gives you time to think about and improve for the next application/assessment!
