Hi I'm thinking of joining the BTP as a PCSO or a special in the future. But I've noticed that they mainly recruit for London. I live no where near London, In fact I live in Leicestershire. So would the BTP recruit around my area and outside of London often?

Perhaps you've been noticing in the wrong places then? BTP recruit for specials for all areas on a rotational basis!

There won't be any more new Specials recruitment until after the Olympics, however I am told from a reliable source a course for transferee Specials may appear between now and then.

...and as I have said in the other place whilst it is internal recruitment, it is not just recruitment for London officers. The confusion seems to come from the fact that is that there is no accommodation for non Londoners due to Olympics, thus recruits will have to put up with a long daily commute or will have to move to London at their own expense.

Probably not a good idea to mention it here....
HR will now get a shedload of phone calls asking "any exceptions? I've got this qualification... I'm a transferee..." and the headaches it brings with it.

Edited to correct spelling.

It's also off topic.

There's a thread for any internal recruitment, should it actually exist, which I can neither confirm nor deny, in the Rail Cops Only section.

Will they be inviting persons who have passed assesments and fitness, and persons who are on the waiting list?

Like myself who lives in London but on a waiting list because I got an injury and was not right for the Feb start date.

Minimod hat on, this thread is about non-London specials recruitment. I've deleted a couple of off topic posts. There's plenty of threads that are still open and fairly current regarding regular recruitment. There is a thread about the news of an internal recruitment in the Rail Cops only section.

You just need to keep an eye out on the recruitment page, if your thinking of transferring as a Special, I recommend you try and contact someone at your preferred station and have a chat with them see if you can get out on a observation shift so you get an idea of what its like, if your transferring from WMP then BTP certainly wont be as busy so you need to weigh up what your after wanting to get out of btp

A school of thought might suggest their time would be better spent concentrating on those internal applicants who are actually able to apply for the positions, rather than a shed-load of external hopefuls who will all be told the same thing anyway.

Who would phone up and try to apply for internal vacancies anyway? That's like me working in TESCO and trying to apply for internal vacancies at ASDA.
