Did any potential Specials get an email saying that they could be on the April 2012 intake if all other application stages go to plan?

Hello all,
Did any potential Specials get an email saying that they could be on the April 2012 intake if all other application stages go to plan?
Hi Stephen9064,
I'm a special for Derbyshire Constabulary, as far as I'm aware neither myself or my colleagues have received an email regarding April intake although it has been announced on the radio and on the website.
However, I've been told though that there's a waiting list of applicants who got through with the last recruitment drive but have been put on hold. They've announced that only 50 places are available

Hi Stephen, I am guessing you are aiming this at Lancashire constab?
There will be more potentials coming up soon I am guessing, I had my first weekend of training last weekend and they had recruited right up to the wire. We had 34 on ours and some only got told 1day before that they would be training the next day for 3days.
You may not see many on here but they will be coming through in dribs and drabs. My intakes training finishes on 25th March.
Fingers crossed you will be in INTAKE 1 of 2012-13

Bad news whisper, your basic and induction training ends on the 25th March but then the real training begins!
Yeah i know, i meant the basic training because the next intake starts in April.. Not that i don't have anymore training after that

Does anyone know when the second intake will be? It looks like I've missed the April one as I've had no correspondence from recruitment and am waiting on an interview date.
Thanks

Eek. Ok thank you. Im just keen!
October is a long way away...if I were lucky enough to get through being in the October intake would mean the whole process would have taken me 11 months!
Its strange how they haven't given you an interview date yet. I got mine on the letter saying i passed assessment :S
I would phone them personally but yeah don't panic yet!

Training is a lot to take in but loads of fun as well, and you'll meet some brilliant people.
Where are you all hoping to be based?

Sorry for the bump, but has anyone got any tips for the assesment day? Was it difficult, anything to look out for? Ive passed the paper sift for lancashire and am told I have to pass a numerical reasoning, logical reasoning and written test :| what should I expect/ practice for? Obviously i wont ask for specifics, that would be cheating
but what kind of stuff would anyone advice practicing?
Hi Azz,
I used a book called Police Recruitment Process by Ian Hutchison when I was preparing for my PIRT as it had lots of good sample questions in it.
You don't necessarily need a book though, as long as you practice your basic maths...long division, fractions etc then you should be fine
If you Google Logical Reasoning tests then you'll be able to find examples of the type of questions you'll get asked during that test, and for the written test you'll be ok as long as your handwriting is legible
Have you got your date for the test yet? You should receive example questions with your letter too.
Hope that helps!
Katie

Im using 5 different books at the moment - not prepared to take any risks!! haha.Yep, my test is on the 5th so less than a week away now. The questions on the test seem very easy, but I think thats purely because its just to give you an idea of what kind of questions are on the test and that they'll be a million times harder on the day! I feel fairly confident but Im really just focusing on practicing constantly to make sure I dont get stuck on the day. Its really been playing on my mind - the whole process. I dreamt last week that I passed and arrested someone before I recieved my warrant card and my Sergeant dismissed me
But I shall keep practicing and keep my fingers crossed
Regards,
Azz
