Hi Vicki

Well i live in rotherham so looking at poss killamarsh or dronfield, however I may yet trans to SYP as i work SYP as a ciilian and it would make moew sense and not as far to travel either.. not decided yet,

both forces are saying there are training courses back end of the year so need to weigh up the pros and cons i reckon..

Hey,

WOW Rotherham? How far away is that from Killamarsh/Dronfield? I've only been up to Killamarsh once as I was based at Clay Cross in C section but I've now transferred to D Devision.

When do you start training?

I live in Rotherham area and work the Dronfield / Killamarsh section for over 2 years now. Not a bad area to work in and a good crew to work with.

It's great to hear the good news!!

I'm sure you will enjoy working in Derbyshire if you decide you want to be based here.
I work in Clay Cross (C Div) and we work closely with Dronfield and Killamarsh (as it's all the same section) and they are both really good stations with some really nice people to work with.

Best of luck with the rest of the process.

Jules - very long time no speak! :) We need to get the crew out for a drink sometime!

The issue I found when working comms for SYP and as a Special for Derbyshire was the different way in which the forces work. Had I worked for Derbyshire as a comms operator and a Special I am sure I would have found it easier and I am sure each role would have complimented the other. By working for two different forces it is going to be more difficult to get to grips with certain aspects simply because forces do things differently to others. Likewise there will be policies and procedures that Derbyshire has, that SYP do differently. One of these I suspect may be the deployment of Specials. I'm not sure what the deployment of Specials is in SYP, but in Derbyshire it used to be very SNT-centric, which is now moving towards response working. This will no doubt change in the year once again to something else.

However you'll have an advantage in some aspects having worked in comms as you're PNC trained, so will automatically know what order you need to give information in, and you'll also be aware of other tools such as mapping software and that.
It's a difficult choice though - but I did look into transferring to SYP and decided against it as it seemed to be quite a lot of hassle.

Hi Calvin - Ye defo have to get crew together again, a know most of us are full time now tho.. except for me lol,,,:)...

I have already taken the decision to trans to SYP and have filled out the vetting forms today i got them this morning..

i think it would make much more sense to work as a comms operator and special in the same force...

They have said possibly ona course wither Aug or Oct depending on who else they have ..

We all miss you up there too!!.....:(
