umm, i've only had it on my TVP one. so as everyone in my intake. also, to clarify one thing, I'm an eligible person and I'm intending to apply. so the more people apply; the worse chance I have. nevertheless, I'd like to think that someone would have told me that this thing is happening if I hadn't read that email today

Checked your junk mail folder? Although I'm interest, I'm not eligable. However, I'm tired of seeing topics like this descend into people getting ratty at each other over what is quite frankly a simple matter.

Hi Nickyc

I am not sure where you are getting the IPS requirement from but this is definitely not the case.

You do however need to have completed a minimum of 208 hours from 1st April 2011 to 30th March 2012.

The email you will have received was fairly self explanatory.

Kind regards

Lufty

Sorry buddy, that bit was second hand info as i haven't been into the office yet to check my emails as not on until next week, i was only told from word of mouth!
Cheers for correcting me!

Everyone that needed to know, knew, and the e-mail was quite clear that it's for internal applicants only. Personally I'm not convinced it needed posting here.

agree with this.

While you are getting outraged about whether you are informed via TVP email or your own personal email the communication is 'restricted staff' which is applies to emails sent to TVP PNN accounts or forwarded onto your personal accounts. Restricted staff means it can only be circulated by those entitled to know the information. And the word 'Internal' is pretty clear isn't it. INTERNAL not for publicly displaying here.

Well, the Chief Officer already tweeted this information. So it's public domain

If it was that restricted and confidential then it wouldn't of been sent to personal email address surly?

Be in no doubt. ANY e-mail sent as restricted and forwarded on to ANY other e-mail address is still classed as restricted.

From many views and replies on here it seems very childish some peoples attitudes towards their fellow officers. The email was not something to be put into the public domain and all SC should have completed the government protective marking scheme NCALT training package which would clear this up. For those that have mentione dthis i cant say for sure but you may have breached policy forn which PSD can and will investigate as they silently troll these forums. I was told of an officer who put comments up on a public forum which means they are potentially be investigated for a criminal offence so please all calm down and carry on ;)

The Email was not restricted and this has been broadcast as widely as possible to ensure everyone is aware including current applicants to the Special Constabulary.

The only confidential point was the links contained in the email which are not to be forwarded to people outside of the organisation.

Indeed you might well find the current eligibility criteria appearing on the force website in the near future.

The requirements for Special Constables applying under the internal only regular officer application process are :-

12 months of attested service
Maintaining minimum hours since April 2011
2 A Levels (grade A - C) or equivalent

Interesting that they've added some academic requirement, fairly high too.

I was pretty shocked at the A-Level requirements, as suggested in Windsor, I have to say.
I only have 2 A-levels A-C and am currently at uni... (Yes I messed up Physics and got a D ;) )

Wow this has certainly opened up some off topic arguments.

OK for a start, anything marked RESTRICTED should not be sent to a public domain email, this should only go on GSI or PNN networks which are accredited for Protectively Marked materials.

The A level criteria are on the TVP website so there are no issues mentioning it on here.

This is quite a hot topic as far as I am concerned. There may be a lot of SC's who joined SC on the premise that Reg aplications were closed and this was how they were to get in. Having dedicated however much time to SCing in an effort to become Reg, to now be told that having done all this training and volunteering they are no longer eligable through educational requirments is a real kick in the teeth.
If they are to change the goalposts they should have done it from a certain cut off date onwards. Say from 01/04/12 any SC applicants who want to go Reg must be aware that they now need to fulfill additional educational requirements. this would at least allow the dedicated SC's who have been striving to join not suddenly be barred by education restrictions.

I've got a rant!

I thought I was eligible to apply but apparently not!
you're eligible if you have done 12 months as a volunteer staff, or 12 months as an SC.

In my case, I've done 2 years as a volunteer staff and 2 months as SC (continous service). Also, I've done over that 200 hours requirement within those 2 months. Nevertheless, HR delivered to me the sad news that I wasn't eligible. I'm absolutely gutted after I have dedicated so much time for this... :new_eyebrow:

Cause I haven't been an SC for 12 months, and I'm no longer a staff volunteer ..... can you believe this? :D

And here begins the irritations of following requirements to the letter. Some have fallen foul of being 0.1 over the BMI scale so there are sympathisers.
This is only the startings of the process, no doubt will have some teething issues.
When they realise that the qualifications are preventing 3/4 of their potential manpower pool from applying perhaps they will relax some of the other criteria.

Only a possiblility.. good luck to whomsoever is brave enough to wade into the eligability whirlpool.

Sadly, I can; I'm seeing more and more employers try to get rid of people, or stop people progressing on technicalities like yours. As I work self employed, and get sub contracted out by various companies I get to talk to alot of the full time staff they employ.

Even those of us who are sub contracted out are now getting incidents like this where if we go and work with one company on a one-off job (when we have no guarantee of work that week) we can lose work from another company that offers us alot throughout the year (or even be removed from that companies books altogether), but still cannot guarantee work every week for us.
