By popular request, and as a side benefit of our recent award ribbon redesign, I am pleased to announce the addition of two new awards:
Holder is a current member of police staff ('civilian' employee) - e.g. call taker, controller, detention officer, intelligence officer, etc.
Holder is a serving PCSO (Police Community Support Officer)
If you would like one of these awards added to your profile, then here's how to apply:
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org from a police email account (one which is of the format email@example.com) with the following information:
Your full (real) name
Which UK police force you work for
Your role (e.g. PCSO, controller, detention officer, call taker, etc.)
Your collar number or force ID number
Your PoliceSpecials.com username
On receipt of your email, I will award you the appropriate ribbon - confirmed by reply to your police email address. The information you provide will only be used to confirm your right to have the award added to your profile, and your email will then be deleted.
If you would prefer not to send an email from your work .pnn email, then send an email from your personal email account (PMs will be ignored!) to the above address with all the above information, containing your police email address. I will then email you at your police email address with a random word (which will of course be completely work safe!). You should be able to read 'incoming' email without breaching any force policy.
Once you've read your police email, contact me again from your personal email address and tell me what the random word was, and include your forum username. This will satisfy me that you have a police email account, and I can then add the award to your profile.
Note: if you're going to use this method - which causes me the most work - then don't please just reply from your police email account. If you're going to do that anyway, just use Method 1
I know that some officers don't have access to a police email account so as an alternative, you can send a scan of your police ID card to the above email address (again, PMs will be ignored) - once your id is confirmed the email will be deleted. If you or your force are uncomfortable with sending pictures of your ID in this way, then don't do it.
