This is what I thought. I think its wrong they judge handwritting, since practically everything is done on compter these days

They were hand written last time i saw the forms and actually had instructions to state you must hand write using black ink etc.
I have not seen this recent application form so cannot comment. Read the guidance notes i suggest.

I presume they get marked like the specials written assessments still do, to check grammar, and how applicants compose sentances, paragraphs, basic spelling etc.
HR will answer definatively but i assume Shows an initial understanding of written English to weed out some that possibly cannot write English.
Good luck everyone.

Actually just reading the form it does state you write in Black Ink or Typeface...

Difficult to make a PDF editable though... (and look good)

At about 1ish yesterday it opened applications for Police Constables to the Public. You had to email requesting an application pack to a certain email address. Luckily i spotted this and emailed away. A few hours later this information had closed.... i wonder if it is because all the application packs have gone? They put it out too soon? Will find out soon, will i have an application pack emailed to me tomorrow... will have to see...

Out of curiosity as external applicants do you have to return you completed applications to Norfolk or Suffolk??

It says the address stated; which it doesn't state, by the 11th of April. I'm assuming its the recruitment department in Wymondham? Which is staffed by both Norfolk and Suffolk. Incidentally, Norfolk is not recruiting...

Norfolk isnt recruiting as they have a backlog of people who passed the NPIA SEARCH Assessments in 2010 and froze them - me being one of them :aok:

Cliff is checking this with recruitment tomorrow because his letter says Norfolk, but the email says Suffolk. Maybe the person who wrote the email got it wrong? Or maybe its a test lol!

As previously said, Norfolk have many more people on their books than Suffolk. I'm not sure if they will be openingly taking new applicants until next year.

It goes to Norfolk. Looks funny but it goes to Norfolk.

Good luck to all. I cant apply to Suffolk as my Norfolk application is still live but Im still hanging in there.

And good luck with the hand writing, jeeez!

Does anyone know how long they are going to be advertising it for? Or how many application packs they are sending out?

Nope. There were rumours it would only be a few hours, but that's obviously not true now. Last year it was right until the closing date.

Hi, guys.

Anyone know how many officers Suffolk are looking for?
I spoke to a lady in HR about a month ago and she said 60, but I know how often these things can change in a flash.

Thanks a lot! :new_eyebrow:

I think 60 is a pretty firm number, however some of those places have already been taken by those transferring their application to Suffolk. Make sure your application is the best

I'd heard 50 places transferees were being treated separately.

Four intakes of Twelve over this year.

When I say transferees in the last post, I meant transferring applications, not PCs transferring to Suffolk. I was under the impression they were included in the 50/60

66 This year, they are not taking transferred applications (I have been told from HR) and only looking for transfers from PC's with specialist training i.e. Firearms/Dogs/Traffic. The first two intakes will be filled by people already waiting for a start date, as such earliest new applicats could be in will be the third intake unless you are really lucky and get one of the handful of spaces on the second intake.

What are we going for then? How many spaces are we fighting for? When you send your application off, do you get a confirmation letter?

We are fighting for about 47 places this year and another 120 (subject to change) spaces over the 2013/14 2014/15 tax year
