Right i suspect this may of been covered but I cant find it,

As said alot of times when said about equipment people say the torch is well a Wilkinson reject piece of yellow plastic.

So im just wondering which torches are the best and which ones people reckon are the best.

These are very good torches. You can pick them up on ebay for around £35/40.

I think you mean Deception.. But no, it isn't.

Lovefilm is owned by Amazon, it's part of their promotion that if you sign up for a 30 day trial you get a £20 Amazon voucher as a thank you / sweetener. You're still free to cancel your Lovefilm membership within the trial period and get to keep the Amazon voucher.

Here's the LoveFilm promo link in case anyone's interested. Posted Image (offer expires 31/12/2012)

Well I'm not worried with spending up to £50

you could get a nice torch for that sort of money. Will you just be using it when you are out with the police?
The LED lenser P7 is a bit of a world beater realy, it is available pretty cheaply these days (£35ish) and is a very good torch. Under 50 quid I cant think of anything that is better for the money. The Fenix TK 15 is probably better but its £50 and needs special batteries.
For general use I would go with the P7 as it uses AAA batteries and gives great performance for the size and usually comes with a pouch to put it on your belt with.
I have two that are about 4 years old and they are both still going strong with no problems from regular use.
I would try and avoid the M7 or T7 as I have read that they are not as well made as the P7, might not be true but I dont want to be the one to find out!

TBC

I used it the other day when I was in a Bulk animal food ship. I had to climb down into a dark haul because it was raining and the roof was closed, around a 80 ft drop on a straight ladder and my P7 was a god send. It lite the whole place up, amazing for its size.

Sounds dodgy! brave of you, Yeah they're brilliant! i was in a garden a month ago with a firearms chap and he needed to borrow a torch, a regular and i both held ours out, and he declined the regulars and snatched for my P7!

fantastic for putting someone off a fight in the dark too if you shine that in their eyes i imagine

Morning All,
So just to clarify (Going slightly off track) when we arrive on Mod one, day one, we will get given ALL kit? So uniform, torch, belts etc etc etc. Only things we won't get are PPE based?

I'm guessing I will need a fairly big bag?:)

Yes, I believe that is still correct. There is talk of giving the uniform out on the induction but as far as I know its still mod one for now.
You will be given a big clear plastic bag with all your uniform and other gubbins in. Then you will get ASP and cuffs on mod 3 or 4 and body armour on the last mod.
I just used the plastic bag for my kit, but I was driving to and from FHQ, if you are getting a lift or the bus then you will need a bag for it.

If you have one its probably worth taking a large sports bag just to be safe, but I wouldnt buy one just for the occasion. I would take a smaller bag for your books and learning folders tho.
