To be honest I've always thought police staff should be represented on this forum by a ribbon, be it a blue and White cheque ribbon or something...

I was thinking of that... but thought no one would like the idea. I can always suggest it to Vader.

All police staff whether officer, civilian or PCSO have a police ribbon on ukpol. :)

Do they? I've never noticed.

I agree with not having too many ribbons as they are normally one of the last things to load when using my phone, the only one you need is the serving officer one so to give you access to the parade room.

I'd quite like to be able to have all my medals shown on the threads (if I were to have more than five, which I don't. Yet.)

The designs look brilliant. You should be proud of yourself, and get a medal for your efforts :p.

I'll send them to Vader - no promises as it's not my decision, but worth the question

Your reds in your Jubilee medals are too... Not red... :p

Like the LS&GC one they look orange. Actually, that one still seemed orange to me even after you changed it so I think it must be your monitor settings rather than mine/others

I'm looking at the ribbons on my iPhone and too be honest, they all look red on my screen.

Without wishing to be rude, I appreciate the time taken to make them, but any of them with text in them I'm not too keen!

The karma for example, the text needs anti-aliasing because it just looks wrong otherwise!

The rest are fine mind

Well it's the same "red" as the "Long Service" ribbons... and they look very red. My monitor has been reset to factory now - I think we're just going to have to accept that everyone has different monitors and that people will sometimes see orange, rather than blood-red :(

Text at that size does not smooth well - it blurs and pixels merge into one another.

E.g.

Pixel art is the way forward.

Whilst the pixels do still merge, they don't look as bad in my quick edit as in yours, more pleasing on the eye!

Meh! I do love the rest of your ribbons!

I like the ribbons done by LN, very nice indeed. :)

I like the karma shields we have now though. The karma done by LN and and the ones in LV's topic look rudimentary compared to the new ribbons and current karma. Though I thought the pulse effect looked awesome.

Actually, Mike, I read those in your edit worse than those from Lucas' - perhaps your monitor settings are skewiff?

It's not actually, it's how the file's saving! Ugh, that annoys me. I actually don't think they need to say karma at all mind...

Reminds me of Tony Hawks Pro Skater if anyone's played H.O.R.S.E mode in that :)

Out of interest, how can tell those who are entitled to the Jubilee medal(s)..? Or are you just going on trust?

It's down to trust, as it currently is with the Golden Jubilee Medal.

I guess that's the only way to do it I suppose.... Just have to keep an eye on the Reputation increase-fiends!

Cheers Long-necked One.

You may need to get a mini mod one for more than 2 years, just to future proof a bit longer! :(

Lovely work :D

I did think about that for all of 0.5 seconds before I forgot about it and did something else :p

Problem is, how far does it go? Admin and Super Mods have one "timeless" ribbon, so it never changes, yet for some strange reason the mini-mods do...

Once Vader has got round to uploading the current ones, I'll ask him about it :(

what about the george cross, george medal and queens gallantry medal?

imho, theres absolutely no point in having a QPM for gallantry on the forum, since it hasn't been awarded since 1977 after it was made "redundant" when the george medal was able to be awarded posthumously , and any acts of bravery within the police attract one of the three awards listed above instead

Being completely honest, I prefer the Roman Numerals that we currently have for 6+ years, and the chevrons for post count. The reason being that it provides more variety in the appearance of them, and distinguishes them a bit more from proper medals like the LSGC. I'm not sure about campaign medals, as where do we draw the line as to which campaigns should be included? This is a police forum and not a military one after all.

I agree on the roman numerals, having seen the ones now for the length of service, I got confused as to what mine stood for without having to hover over it :)

I agree, if that one needs words to say what it means then should all not have words? either all with words or none at all maybe?

They are mostly all good and well done to LN for doing them, however now they have appeared on profiles in topics, they are quite big :)
