We're going to have to meet up and start a recruitment drive for this site ^^
Lol - I'll put money on not many of you posting much in this area after a couple of weeks of training. You'll see when it happens

It's just a ploy to dispose of you all from the site!

In fairness it SHOULD be obstructive to your view. The whole point is it cuts off the top of your vision forcing you to walk with your head held back - thus making you look dignified. Or that was the original purpose. It's why the point at the front should be from thumb tip to first knuckle from the end of your nose when wearing it.
Excessively obstuct i mean

I can't tell you how useful you guys have been, so if I can stick around and (direct people to my blog) to help, all the better.

I can only imagine you had Rob as your trainer...
J
Rob was a trainee trainer for the last 3 weeks of my training. I was trained by the regulars trainers who were on OT for 3 weeks cause our proper trainer for the first 2 weeks left to go back to division - Then I had a combination of Paul, and Tom Jackson. It was nice to have a bit of everyones style, but the lack of consistency wasn't 100% great, as nobody knew what had and hadn't been covered really.

Yeah, i've had dealing with Rob, Paul, Tom and the usual OPST crew in my group..Rob was always more militaristic in seemed. Training and Consistency in StaffsPOL is something i think the training department are working on constantly as the remit of the SCs changed with the changing needs of the organisation- the view i got from last i spoke to the legendary TJ.
Shikari-it is always good to put something in and it is also beacuse we want to have good teams in the force to back each other up. That said, don't forget us at the annual conference

Mine are really nice. I've been bulling them, when I don't really need to as they're patrol boots, not parade shoes, but still, always good to keep up appearances
Yes, spot on mate...though please don't do what my ex did and spent more time polishing her boots, than reading her notes

I've finally got my uniform. It suits me
Couple of questions though-
How tight should the duty belt be, because all the bits and bobs feel a bit wobbly (is that normal)?
Why would anyone try to fight a copper with an extended baton- I hit myself mildly to see what it feels like, and it flippin' hurts!
Finally- Stabbies- apparently they're pool, but do we keep them once issued or do we get a new one every shift?

Up to you really - i like mine slightly loose so that it rests on my hips. Everything wobbles and rattles. You'll sound like a walking tea tray.

Just wait till someone thwacks you with it full power in your OPST

Assuming it's the same everywhere now - but you pick out a stabbie that fits properly and it is yours for every now. When i started they were pool, now they're sort of personal issue, just second hand.

TIGHT then position it so it DOES NOT stick in and hurt you when you sit down or SLACK, so it rides up and DOES NOT dig in. It sits on your hip sort of area otherwise. A happy medium is found by some operational shifts. Your gear will gradually wear in and fit much better.
Why would anyone try to fight a copper with an extended baton- I hit myself mildly to see what it feels like, and it flippin' hurts!
Rarely used really, i've seen the CS used more. They do hurt, so I'm told. Most things hitting you however hurt...
Finally- Stabbies- apparently they're pool, but do we keep them once issued or do we get a new one every shift?
Find 1 that fits, it then stays with you till you break/lose/change shape too much to use it. Some changes to this possibly as new reg gear coming out, so watch out for latest.
Hope you are enjoying training though folks, have to spread the stories, always worth a giggle at the 'stuff we done, but don't admit, to see how the newbies are doing' stuff.

I've already polished my feet - but I'm not sure they'll be on show if I get attested
This displeases me! I also want a NATO jumper as part of my religion, can I order one through stores?

What Andrew says is however fully true. Front desk duties are supposed to be in shirts and tie and given the issued national uniform fleece been around, that if needed. Which does look a lot better i think than the wollypully too i think.

Best of luck with your vetting. Any idea where you may be stationed?
