Are Police Cadets allowed to wear duty belts instead of putting all of our stuff e.g. Notebook, Phone, Pen etc. I have just become a Cadet in Devon and Cornwall!:)

I put all of that stuff in my pockets. The only things on my duty belt are officer safety equipment, torch and first aid kit.

Do you need one, or do you just want to look ally?

Unless you have a hell of a lot of paper work to carry around such as EFPNs, NEFPNs, VDRS booklets, HORT/1, Direction to leave book, stop search book, CID 88s etc etc, which I doubt you do as a cadet then you don't need one.

Pockets should do nicely for your phone and PNB, having said that if your intent on having one, a docs pouch and a phone pouch would be all you need. :)

There's nothing really to say you can't, but I'd really advise against it. You don't need a belt, your pockets are plenty. People will take one look at you and think jobsworth as it just looks like an attempt to look/feel more like a police officer. I'm not saying these are your intentions, but it certainly makes it look that way.

Thanks:) I only thought about a duty belt and I would only use it as and when needed. I just thought it would be easier to carry all neatly around my waist than all screwed up in my pockets/digging into my leg(s). The duty belt I was looking at was designed to fit only a Mobile Phone, Notebook, Gloves and comes with 4 keeps. I could add more pouches if I needed them.

P.S. Getting one to look and feel more like a Police Officer was not my intentions.

Do the other cadets at your units wear them or something similar? If so what is the acceptance of them?

Okay then, do you know anyone else doing it and are they considering a similar arrangement?

If you have a strong trouser belt you could put a couple of items on there such as a mobile phone holder and a small document pouch. If you purchase a utility belt you may face 'walt' comments. When I used to do community engagement events in BTP I used to have my airwave terminal, mobile phone and my multitool attached to my trouser belt.

^ That's a good shout above mate, you would be surprised just how much a normal belt will support (And support / carry it well at that)

I can honestly say I have never ever felt the need to attach a pen to my belt :D
