Thought I would start a thread for people that are starting in Jan to move conversation away from the october one and make it easy for people looking to find it!

Getting excited now, less than a month :D

Hi everyone!

My name is Andrew Dunmore and I'm on the January intake, and would just like to introduce myself to the forum!

I do have one question, and that is, does anybody know what we should wear on the first night of training? I wasn't sure whether to wear a suit or to dress more smart-casual.

I was also wondering if there was anyone on this training session who I met at the interview/fitness stage, in May/June respectively.

Anyway I'm really looking forward to the training and it would be great to get to know a few of you between now and then!

Bizmo, to answer your question you will be given an NPIA IL4SC quick notes book on the first night of training which contains the basics of policing and how it relates to you as a special. If you wanted to buy your own specials publications you can do, but it's not an absolute must! I've heard Blackstone's are quite good and I suppose reading up more will only do you good!

Andrew, to answer your question on the first night of training I think I wore shirt and trousers but that was my personal preference as I treated it as my first day at work and wanted to make a good impression, but it is informal and you will be issued with your uniform!Posted Image

When I did the training, the hours were typically 08:00 - 16:00 Saturday & Sunday, 19:00 - 22:00 Thursdays and the odd Tuesday evening training session, don't think they've changed the format since I did it.

I had these hours quite a while ago - you sure you are on this intake? To confirm you were on it you had to agree you could make the hours....
