A few questions about WY SC

I will be moving house in January and will be on the border of both South and West Yorkshire and so I need to decide whether to apply to either WY or SY.
Could any WY Police Reg/Specials tell me what roles Specials are given in WY?
Are they treated the same as Regs?
Do you enjoy working as a Special?
And anything else you feel is relevant.
Thanks in advance,

basically in West Yorkshire if a Regular can do it then Specials can do it (obviously with the correct permits etc)
I say with the correct permits as when you leave basic training you cant drive police cars or use speed cameras etc but if you complete the training for these (driving after 1 year and at an SO's discretion) then you can do nearly everything a Regular can.
I must admit i love how i am treated in WY (North East Leeds) We take part in operations and also do our own operations sometimes. we provide additional cover when they are low on regular officers.
we get a lot of respect i find from the regulars as we work full time and then come in on our days / nights off to do the job they get paid for and i have never had any issues with anyone.
i dont know what south yorks is like but WY is the best

*cough* SYP is the best in the North East region and the North East Region is the best region ergo SYP is the best
That's a nasty cough you've got there, making you say things you don't mean...

I only know knowledge in WYP but yes we are treated highly off and used very wisely.
Take your pick but WYP have just opened recruitment for SC.
Good luck!

In West Yorkshire yuo will have the option to do most things that you want, it all depends on how keen you are , what skill levels you have and the commitment you put in.

There are some specials in NEL that are 18 and they do a great job I'm 24 and ive never had any problems with age difference it's all down to your attitude.
Also I think that NEL maybe full now we just got our last cohort of specials although I think some are leaving soon so you maybe lucky!

Hmmm, well fingers crossed anyway. NEL is definitely my area of choice. Hopefully by November there might be some spaces.Your age doesn't really matter it's your attitude and how well you do the job that gets you noticed.

I was told at assessment that they didn't take spaces into account due to the fact we are volunteers and that they can never have enough.
I originally asked how many vacancies were available and got that reply.
Now whether the spaces part refers to specific police stations, I have no idea.
