Taking my house in Downend as an example....

It still makes me laugh that some bean counter at HQ thinks it's a good idea to charge £10 a night to stay there, yet, for those that don't want to pay, they are happy to pay out £16.80 a day in travel expenses.

Why not let people stay for free and save the force some money. Posted Image

It just seems a bit daft.

I'm not 100% sure on how the courses are run these days, but back when I did mine, it was Friday night, Saturday & Sunday.

If I had to pay for my room at HQ (I didn't), it would have cost me £20. If however I'd have gone home every night, and come back in the morning, it would have cost the force £50.40 in travel expenses. Someone needs to check their maths.

I wonder if it is not the full cost of cleaning etc.

Enjoy yourself too, It'll be a bit full on during your first day, but there is much to get through, Admin forms, issue of kit and so on...

But don't be disheartened :whistle2:
You'll start to enjoy yourself and once the first weekend is over, you'll be thinking 'Damn i wish it was next weekend we could go back!'

Word of caution - don't trust your satnav to take you to HQ from the postal address, it will dump you in the middle of a housing estate. Use a map!

You wont get St George as that is within the city boundary and is ours (Trinity's patch, B district). You better be nice to Damsel and hope for Kingswood! :)

Some of you may find out your stations on sunday, no guarantees through. The rest will find out sometime during the first couple of modules. All the timings of what happens when will be gone through on Sunday though so dont despair!

Staple Hill is going I think, most of it has been moved somewhere else, I dont know if it will stay open for NPT, I was told a while ago that it was to be sold :) Hope that is not true.

Hey Dan! I recognise your name from the email then - we'll be both based there it seems! Look forward to meeting you on Sunday as I'm sure we'll work with one another at some point.
