What information are you on about exactly? If you've had the uniform fitting then you're all good to go - I had mine last week, and received a final email today with a bit more information about the induction on the 8th January.

I was after info about the induction and stuff but I imagine I'll get some soon. Just excited and impatient that is all!!

You will get info soon I am sure. Just bring a pen with you, it's laid back and easy going. We will explain everything you need to know and answer any questions you have as well :D

You have to be a perfect specimen to get an old-style high vis, the right size and width. You just didn't make the cut I'm afraid Posted Image

Those would be the Chief Constables night shirts. I've heard that he sleeps in full uniform. Posted Image

See am I right in saying, as Police officers we need to be a little mobile, but these Hi vis coats are over the top big. You can get smaller versions like the ones I use in work. They are much more practical.

there are cycle jackets which are so much better, however I have been told we can only get them once you have done the cycle course. Or thats what an inspector said one night when he saw a reg wearing one!

You wont be saying that when you are stood on a scene guard at 3 in the morning in winter!
The jackets are a little bulky, but there is a zip out padded bit inside and they are fine once you have that taken out :)

I have a cycle jacket and they are ok, they are pretty thin tho, its usualy cycle jacket in the summer and rain coat in the winter. The new rain coats are pretty gucci, im very happy with mine.

The one I have in my day job is very warm, thin and I can move in it ( I need to I am climbing under excavators). Did not give that a thought about the insert, still they are very long, well for 5.9 " blokes anyways. ;)

you would be sweating your t1ts off in the summer if you left it in!
I wore mine with the insert in while doing traffic in the cold the other day and I was snug as a bug in a rug :)

Stuff like that is usually expensive tho, we are not known as A-van and Some-kit for nothing you know ;)

Wicked.
Is anyone staying over at HQ during training, as I live in stgeorge/Kingswood I'm not sure if I am eligible for it.
Would anyone know about if I would be?
Cheers

No, you are not. But you only have to pay £10 for the room. I got to be honest I didnt sleep well in them but then again I was buzzing about PPE, it was like a kid at Christmas again.

No, all of Bristol is within the range considered to be reasonable travelling distance. You can have rooms at £10/night, but don't feel you're missing out if you don't stay - these days the majority are 'day students'.

Taking my house in Downend as an example....

It still makes me laugh that some bean counter at HQ thinks it's a good idea to charge £10 a night to stay there, yet, for those that don't want to pay, they are happy to pay out £16.80 a day in travel expenses.

Why not let people stay for free and save the force some money. Posted Image

It just seems a bit daft.

I'm not 100% sure on how the courses are run these days, but back when I did mine, it was Friday night, Saturday & Sunday.

If I had to pay for my room at HQ (I didn't), it would have cost me £20. If however I'd have gone home every night, and come back in the morning, it would have cost the force £50.40 in travel expenses. Someone needs to check their maths.
