I don't know what an executive is? Do you mean the CC or DCC? Pretty good they come to a lot of our meetings/cermonies so I feel we're faily intergrated into the family.
Deployment. We either work with regs, other specials, on our own, with PCSOs. What ever floats your boat really. I work on the PDU so I take out probationers and work response mainly with the odd Public Orfer shift thrown in

I am from Cleveland Police, we currently have Jackie Cheer with us as Temp Chief Constable. Can anyone explain your rank structure, relationship with your executive, how you are deployed etc. Happy for private messages if needed.
Thanks
Rank structure is the same as any other force I would assume, (Regs and Specials wise) exceptwe don't have C/Insp. I'm not in a relationship and certainly not with any 'executive'
I'm not really sure what information you are after maybe you could elaborate on your initial post.

That's most helpful thank you!I think you might need to be a bit more specific? Our rank structure is quite simple: CO, DCO, Supt, Insp, Sgt

Sorry if my initial post was a bit vague. In Cleveland our Chief Officer retired last year and we have not filled the post. During this time the force has completed an internal review of the Special Constabulary, yet to be shared. We have also come under the portfolio of 2 Assistant Chief Constables during this period. As you also make know we have a new Temporary Chief Constable who may be with us for quite some time. The Special's are managed differently in all 4 Districts, the new Chief might have her own ideas, so I was just trying to see how you operate in her previous force area.Rank structure is the same as any other force I would assume, (Regs and Specials wise) exceptwe don't have C/Insp. I am deployed how or where I want to be deployed (within reason) perks of being a Sgt.

Ah I see, that explains it. I've not had many dealings with her to be honest. But if there is one thing you can be sure of is that every Chief will have their own ideas.
Jono, not sure who gave you a -1 but will level it out for you, as for once I don't think you deserved it. Haha.

Out of intrest what is your specials rank structure and titles?
Having been on a national NPIA course recently i found it difficult to understand that while Regular rank structures are near consistent, Special constabularies have different rank titles with some having Chiefs and some having DCO's and Assistant specials chiefs and some with S/CI's and in some instances with different insignia's...
Is there someone out there driving for a National consistency regarding Specials or would that be too much to ask?
Not that it effects how we operate to be honest.
Obviously as Special constabularies have evolved they all seem to have created their own structure which i can understand in a small part but you would have thought the general rank structure and titles would have remained the same AND depending on size and area of force etc you just cherry pick how many you use.
Oh what a tangled cultural web we weave.

Paul totally agree with you, I think that's what the NPIA is trying to do. In our last Development meeting (were you there?) in the region they will have all the ranks/insignia the same. I don’t mind a change from the current insignia as I saw the cadets insignia the other day...
It'll help professionalise the Specials

If any one is ex military I think S/Sgt would look better as Lance Corporal, S/Insp as Corporal. S/Supt could mirror the regs as it would look different any way with the extra SC crowns and CO and DCO stay the same as they are very similair to regs

Not to match the regs don't worry
I don't agree they should be the same as regs as a regular Sgt is a proper rank whereas specials are all one rank from a legal point of view i.e. constable

What's wrong with the system we have now? You know what most regs are like, it's prob taken them years to work out the current insignia and then you change it they won't have a clue, let alone the public!

Absolutely nothing wrong with the system/insignia we have now - if it aint broke, dont fix it !!!.
I expect we will all have Norfolk uniforms soon anyway

I believe there are people working on a national insignia and also within Suffolk to review our current ones.

Special Constable
Special Sgt
Special Insp
Special Supt
As I stated earlier our ranks and deployments are currently under review. They did not replace our Chief Officer after she resigned, this is also under review but I don't think it will be replaced.

Jon i was there i did mean nationally and not just regionally. If we change in our region then we will either gain S/CI or some of our very close neighbours will loose them if true collaboration is to evolve.

Or they end up with ours. LOL
We have the following grades:
Special Constable
Special Sgt
Special Insp
Special Supt
Thanks for confirming.
Surely you need a figure head back? What do your ranks feel?

Theres nothing wrong with the current insiginia... just looks lazy that's all
What ours or others?
as my previous post the different stuff i saw on peoples shoulders on an NPIA Course recently just makes the special constabulary look so inconsistent when compared to the Regs which apart from the Met commanders is a pretty nationally consistent approach from PC to CC. However unless you are a real police geek MOP who travels between counties and studies the different types of shoulder insignia then who really notices other than us...

Be safe out there
One for sgt
Two for Insp
Three for supt
My personal view - I would not want to be mistaken for a regular supt at a critical incident.
