Regular Recruitment - Vetting & Medical turnaround

Have just received the great news, that I have finally managed to pass the dreaded Assessment Centre - 2nd time lucky.
According to the email, all I have is vetting and a medical to complete, which hopefully will be pretty straight forward.
Does anyone have any idea how long vetting and medical tests normally take?
I know every case is individual, and there is no schedule I can look at; but for someone who has lived in the same area all of his life and does not have anything untoward hidden in any closet, both for himself and his family, how long should I be expecting to wait?
Thanks in advance, and hopefully I will get to actually meet some of you guys in the near future!
Cheers,
Chris

A February start would be great - means I could finish work early Jan, and then go and travel for a month ..... Could be a good way to relax!
Hello everyone
First post on here. I have completed everything with Surrey and am awaiting a start date. Congrats to chribi and forzaf1 for passing your stages.

If your going for regs, and have had to have the interview, I guess it's another thing I will have to do!

Not that I know of - I am going for a regular position as opposed to a SC. Recruitment process may be different!

Sorry I forgot to put my application is for regs as well! My friend has just passed her assessment centre and got her interview on 2nd Nov.

The Values Based Interview doesn't yet apply to Specials, but there's a good chance this will be changing imminently.

That's good. I have just sent off my paperwork. I guess I will have to have an interview aswell now!
What sort of things do they ask you about?
You will get a booklet to print off and its about understanding what is in there, and a few other questions of life experience etc
Sorry its a bit vague but i'm sure you understand I can't really say what it is about!

I just had to be re-vetted (you have to be re-vetted every ten years, although for some reason I've been vetted three times in eight years
), and the vetting took ten months to come back - it came back last week.
Got something to hide, Giraffe?!?!

Got something to hide, Giraffe?!?!
Lol! The bloke in vetting only realised I was last vetted in 2005 after he'd sent the forms off to the Home Office, so as it lasts 10 years I didn't actually need to be vetted again. I have no idea why they vetted me in 2005 though - I only joined in 2003!

They say no news is good news - Its true . . . . . . . .I passed my vetting.
I have my medical in the the next 2 weeks.
They also clarified that I dont need to have the in-force interview, as it was not part of the recruitment process when I applied (September 2010)
Happy days!
