A 46-YEAR-OLD fan of Call of Duty tracked down and attacked a schoolboy who had killed his computer game character, a court heard.

Mark Bradford, 46, admitted he 'just lost it' after a 13-year-old player gunned-down his character then proceeded to mock him over the microphones used in the game Call Of Duty: Black Ops.

Jobless father of three Bradford confronted the youngster at an address in Plymouth, Devon (UK), and started to strangle him, Plymouth Magistrates Court was told.

The attack only ended when the teenager's horrified mother pulled Bradford off the boy then he left without any explanation.

The teenager's mother said: “It’s pathetic that a grown man would attack a defenceless child like this.

“If you can’t handle losing to a child then you shouldn’t be playing games.”

Bradford admitted the attack was 'moment of madness' as the child 'would not shut up'.

He said: “I'd been playing the whole day and he was baiting me and baiting me and just would not shut up.
“He went on and on and I just lost it. I hold my hands up, I lost the plot. In a moment of madness I went round to his house. I didn't know what I was going to do.”

Bradford admitted one count of assault by beating

Magistrates ordered a probation officer to prepare a full report on his background before he is sentenced.

Someone needs to take a reality check.

In my mind a jobless 46 year old fella with three kids should be out looking for a job not playing Call of Duty...

Strange world we live in.

I don't condone assault but those kids are bloody annoying.

What the man did was totally wrong.

The person who bought the boy the game deserves to be punished too. A thirteen year old should not be playing a game rated for 18 year olds.

Mirrors take on it:

A MIDDLE-aged man carried out a real-life revenge attack on the teenager who killed his character in an online video game.

Mark Bradford, 46, saw red when the boy gloated after gunning him down while playing Call of Duty: Black Ops.

A court heard how Bradford stormed out of his bedsit and assaulted the 13-year-old who was playing the war game at a friend’s home nearby.

The pal’s mum had to come to the terrified boy’s rescue after Bradford marched into the front room and grabbed the boy’s throat with both hands.

The lad, who cannot be identified, said last night: “I was just sat playing. We’d had a bit of a joke and then he stormed in and grabbed me. I didn’t know what was going on.”

Jobless Bradford and the teenager had been playing the violent game on PlayStations and were talking to each other on microphones over the internet.

Plymouth magistrates heard that the dad-of-three walked away without saying a word after the attack in July. The victim was left with a scratch. His mum, 33, said last night: “It’s pathetic that a grown man would attack a defenceless child like this.

“If you can’t handle losing to a child then you shouldn’t be playing games.

“I know Mark and went straight round when I found out what had happened. I was fuming. But rather than have it out with him I got the police involved.”

Bradford, of St Budeaux, Plymouth, admitted assault and was freed on bail to be sentenced on October 24.

He said yesterday: “I’d been playing the whole day and he was baiting me and just would not shut up.

“I just lost it. In a moment of madness I went round to the house. I didn’t know what I was going to do.

“It wasn’t malice. I just grabbed him. I’ve seen him since and apologised. The injuries weren’t that bad but I do regret it.”

Crossed my mind aswell, perhaps the lad taunted it to him over the mic... Still very odd.

Reading the mirrors article it appears as if the victims mother and the kids knew one another.

What a wierdo.. Personally whilst I cant stand all the kids playing awful music and unleashing abuse of the headset it is way way way over the top to exact revenge. Just turn off non-party mic.

Other thing. A 13 year old playing an 18 rated game unsupervised? Perhaps if a parent had been present and challenged the kids bad behaviour it might not have happened. Not excusing the prat of a 46 year old though..

It may have been on his gaming profile.

I wouldn't say that a 13 year old is defenseless and I certainly wouldn't say that if he taunted you to your face you wouldn't lose your temper, but online? Seriously? iT takes no effort to leave the lobby and find a new match...I'm rubbish at COD, I get annoyed when I get killed constantly, but it's only a game, which you can stop playing at any point. Why didn't he just 'rage leave'

Where's MB with a Jeremy Kyle episode about him? :aok:

Come off it, you think call of duty would make any money if people under 18 are not aloud to buy ( well you know what I mean, parents buy kids play ) , they would make less then 5% of what they normally make,

That's... not how benefits work. :aok:

But yes, what a muppet and I'm glad he's been charged. Can't say I like the article, though. On benefits... living in a bedsit... horrible photo of him... All irrelevant beyond a bit of character assissination to spice the article up.

He was especially annoyed, apparently he was about to get attack dogs and the chopper gunner killstreaks and pwn his n00b behind. Or something.

Online gaming is funny stuff. I've seen people get proper carried away with it before, to the point that one of my friends had someone turn up at a train station at a pre-appointed time to fight over some online comments made in a game; that bloke was aged 33. Some people have serious priority issues. I think maybe this bloke should spend slightly more time Prestiging and a little more job-seeking.
