Chief Constable Moore: Hi James,
The Special Constables are a very important part of our present and of our future. They are given policing functions as part of our force coordinating process and are trained and expected to get on with resolving a problem e.g. a spate of criminal damage in an area.
They are well trained and highly regarded by their full time colleagues. Recently they provided thousands of extra hours to us when we deployed large numbers of public order specialists to the disorder in other parts of the country.
In the future we would like to include them in our traffic policing, financial investigation and other high tech roles where their 'civilian' skills and experience are often greater than ours. I hope you would wish to consider this as an option for yourself or your friends and I can promise you a fantastic extra career which is both hugely rewarding and a massive boost to help make ours the safest county in the country.
