Hi guys, new here!

I went to my first local police cadet meeting night last week, and I loved it! Filled in a form, and now I'm officially a VPC!

My coordinator has asked me, and all the other new faces last week, to bring a photo of ourselves with us tomorrow (our meet evenings are Wednesdays), and we've also got to fill in another form, then we'llget put on the uniform list.

Just wondering why they need a photo? The head cadet there told me that we don't get cadet I.D as of yet, just a bit confused about this photo situation.

Not that I've got a problem giving my coordinator my photo, I'll just like to know why they need one!

Thanks guys! ;)

I'm not a cadet yet, but I assume it's for verification purposes or for I.D to prove who you are.

Not sure though ;)

I am not a cadet, so please feel free to chastise me if I am wrong, but I assume your photo will be needed for your ID badge?

Thanks for the reply, but the head cadet has told us we don't get ID.

Perhaps the photo ID is for internal rather than external use then?

Please feel free to tell me to butt out here, If you don't get ID to display to the public then that's all I can think of as to why you need a photo. Posted Image

I think the Met just like collecting photos. People applying to be a Special Constable have their photo taken once with a digital camera at the assessment centre. Then you have to bring in three passport photos with you when you start training. Then when you are training, they take another picture of you for your warrant card.

Sorry for posting again!

Could be to put on the database so when they type your name it it comes up with all your details and your photo?

Just a thought

We had to do this when we became specials... so I made sure I had a really nice one taken with me in shirt and black tie just incase, and then they take the most horrible looking picture for my warrant card!

When I was a cadet I had to do the exact same thing mate, it's normally for the magic portfollio that you will never see, but it has your personal details, NOK(next of kin) emergency contact dets etc etc, they usually paperclip a passport sized pic to the front of each file to help them find a record should they need it in a real emergency

....O, and welcome to the best police service in the world, you'll soon see everyone on here bow to you knowing you're now met-pol, any questions PM me :p :)
