I'd get the Blackstones manuals. The questions tend to be on the more finer points of the law and the weird and wonderful case law decisions that relate to each (which are in the key notes in Blackstones). Just did the Inspector's exam, there is no key or banker area with it anymore, they questions were all over place!

I've already got these plus the blackstones q+a's. The textbooks are obviously the main tool for me as they are what the tests are on.

I was under the impression that the syllabus for Inspectors and Sergeants Part 1 was almost identical, except the Inspectors pass mark is higher.

When I did my Insp, I found there was a lot less traffic and a lot more E&P.

I achieved a far higher pass with the Insp though - probably as you are alreay starting off from a higher knowledge base in the first place I suppose.

Good luck to all who are revising. I hate revising.....no idea why I put in for it before the Olympics really.

Anyone got a set of the Police Pass CD's that they want to loan out, or sell on for a few quid?

I know this thread is about the Sgt's, but there are a few Inspectors candidates on here. The results came out today and I managed to pass, anyone else heard?

Yea the part 2 is in the spring time, it's not too bad really and certainly doesn't require the same amount of time and effort as the part 1!

You need to be out of your probation to sit the exam.

No, not quite.

You need to have a minimum of 2 years service on 30th November in the calendar year that you sit the exams. The Part 1 exams are in March, so you can actually sit the exam with about 15 months service minimum.

I've done very little work.....to be honest, I've given up on the idea of passing it: after all, there is such a backlog of people who have passed there is virtually no chance of me getting promoted in the next year or two so if I do pass this time around then I'd be losing a year or two out of my five years.

Good luck to all! Personally I am sick of having my head stuck in a book, but it'll all be over one way or the other in 3 days, unless I pass of course! Posted Image
