After a discussion with someone, I was wondering what people thought of individual police forces websites.

Whose is the best for information, ease of use, look and feel? Do you think forces need to invest more in websites or are they no longer a relevant need due to other social networks

Also which one is the worst?

Discuss :)

Not worse as such. But City of London Police could do better. So could Hampshire.

I think the Mets is very good, very informative and it would seem they've spent a bit of money on it, likewise with GMP and west mids!

I think the worst one at the minute and the one that could really do with a revamp is Suffolk!

Agreed that Suffolk really needs a revamp, its's not the easiest to use/get any information from

I think the Met has a good site, but think that Norfolk has a really good site (Nothing to do with being from Norfolk) :)

Agree pretty much with above. Suffolk and Hampshire definitely need updating.

Sussex and Norfolk are both very good I think.

The Met's site is actually pretty good. I might be biased here but you can find out loads on it. They have pages about the history and specific famous operations and criminals.

Gloucestershire Constabulary need to sort theirs out, it really could do with a revamp as its a bit behind the times, and hard to get information off.

The Hertfordshire Constabulary Website is pretty good, they have recently re-done the recruitment section and it is really easy to use and find information on. Well worth a look........... but there again I am slightly biased!

I note Sussex has updated, looking rather swish now. I also think Essex's isn't too bad, and WMP's is quite nice looking.
With regards to BTP as other users have suggested, I find it looks good but the actual layout is rather clumsy and can be awkward to use.

No real opinion on the worst although Suffolk certainly need a revamp. Gwent's could be better but serves a purpose, still rather plain and uninspiring though.

I second the BTP website (over looking that i work for them :) ) ..no commission for the name drop.

However, i get 'upset' that some police forces don't spend time there website. It's 2011 and websites are a must have tool in modern policing. I feel that if your THE POLICE you should have a website that reflects that. That's why i like the British Transport Police website, when people wish to join, report a crime or take an active intrest - the first thing that's accessable is the website.

Anyone looked at police sites state side?
