Hi Everyone :)

Ive just got conformation that I am now a Volunteer Police Cadet and I start on 15th September 2011
I am going to be working in the Knowsley area

Could anyone tell me what the uniform looks like and where I can buy the boots from the letter I recieved from Merseyside Police Volunteer Cadet it said that I have to get my own boots!!

Welcome and congrats at getting in as a cadet :)

The uniform consists of black trousers, 2x white shirts, black tie, black epaulettes with "CADET" embroided on them, a police-style cap with a blue band around, a dark blue jumper with the MerPol crest & "CADET" on and we got heavy-duty hi-viz jackets with "CADET" on, however I'm told these are no longer being issued and cadets are given lightweight jackets now, although I've heard they're not liked very much.

Congratulations, enjoy it... I did many moons ago and take from it whatever experience you can.

Regarding boots I would reccommend a pair of Magnums, you dont want to spend too much on boots with respect as a cadet.

£40 should see you a suitable pair from many online retailers.

i much preferd the heavy duty ones. came in useful on them cold nights especialy when the heating broke down in prescot Nick.

Kemponator i was a knowsley cadet based out of Prescot so any questions feel free to ask.
Not sure who will be running it as the fella that took us only did it as nobody else was able to do it so he took our group over.
I bought my boots from Blacks on Whitechapel in town near the met quater and as lincscadet said buy magnums as there the best type to get

Don't understand why people keep saying that Magnums are the best, they lasted me about a year when I was a Army Cadet before I had to replace them.

Can't go wrong with a good pair of Lowas / Altbergs, will last for ever pretty much

Been with the cadets since September last year, and really am enjoying it all, been quite a few places with the police - motorway control room, st helens radio room, Head Quarters, seen around a few stations (Huyton, Prescot, Kirkby), met a few of the top ranks, Chief Constable Jon Murphy on the 20th Feb, and Inspector Lewis. Attended quite a few events with the Police - Dogs trust, Olympic torch relay, jubilee park fun day, knowsley flower show. Got an appraisel on the 15th august. Really enjoyed my first year as a cadet, and will continue looking forward to next year, but sadly next year will be my last :(, but got to keep up the hard work, and when I've finished being a cadet, apply for PCSO, Special, or police officer hopefully taking - Traffic, or armed response
