Agreed, mine was lost for about 6 months due to an admin oversight, just be patient, your time will come!

Thanks guys, im trying to be as patient as I can!

The person in charge of it in Bristol got back to me today saying that the process usually takes 1 month from start (application) to finish (inspector contacting me).
Seems pretty quick!

Speaking with Sally, she was under the impression that you are only entitled to one ride along per year. Is that district particular because I'm sure others have been going out on more occassions, or was that just down to the fact that they were asking the right people?

I know the ride alongs are great, but I wouldnt worry too much your starting training soon, and will be doing it on a regular basis. Before I joined I never did a ride along, and I'm actually glad I didn't but thats just me.

Its really depends on when we can cater for members of the public. Obviously if there is high demand the service will endeavor to give everyone the opportunity. If the demand is low people are allowed to come out more than once.

Which district are you going to?

It's Weston Police station and it's in Weston-Super-Mare, have a look on the Avon & Somerset website for an address.

Good for you :prone:

If you are coming from the M5 then its just keep on the A370 until you go past a big Tesco on your right, then its left at the roundabout and its just there on the left hand side.
There is street parking about the place, Davies2201 might be able to give you some insider info tho as he is king of WSM station :)

Thanks for that! I got built in sat nav in my car which I don't think I have even used on a long journey so I can put that to the test!

I asked about parking and I was told that there are residential streets but the time I'm going is apparently a nightmare to park so I might have some difficulty! I'll just have to use the ol' iPhone to get me to the nick from the car. Modern technology eh.. :prone:

Never been called the "King" before, but I like it! B-)

As Gelf said there is parking behind the station; if its during the day you have little chance but lots free parking on the streets surrounding it. Enjoy it!

Or park in bristol at parkway tavern and catch train to w-s-m, alot closer to you as its just off the m5 at filton and the train fair isnt that bad, plus if you park in the pub just down the road form the station you get free parking. B-)

Davies you are the king, your just too modest to admit it!

Agreed, if you go straight past the station on your left, first turning on the left that side road [Beaconsfield Road] usually has some great spots early in the day, and if you can't find anything there keep going until the T junction at the end of Beaconsfield and usually you can nab a spot there on Graham Road, that's where i used to park anyway! :w00t:
And if you can't find anything still, if you turned left at the end of that road your back onto the main road again with the roundabout to your left with Tescos in front of you so you've done a small circuit and can go check more side streets past the station again :(

Lol thanks guys but it was midday and there was no free spaces in the surrounding streets.
I ended up parking in Tesco (not realising maximum stay of 2 hours or £70 fine). When me and the officers went to Tesco for some grub I told them I was parking there and they told me about the charge so they let me park around the station

Anyway, it was a really good ride along even though it was really quiet. I didn't get to have any action but it showed me what policing is really like. It has just reinforced my decision to join the force!
Hopefully I can go out again!

Good luck with it all. :aok:

Also folks, I would advise keeping your parking 'areas' on the low down. Police are not the only readers on this forum. :what:
