Had a fantastic time last night on my Observational Shift! Posted Image

Got crewed with a Response Team... was busy all night, done 17.00 - 03.00 shift. Also got to see a lot of the Custody and paperwork side of things, didn't realise how much you have to do.
Feeling a bit tired today Posted Image but gives me a chance to see how I'll cope with doing these times and doing my full time job.

Can't wait now to get through the rest of my Recruitment Process! Posted Image

Again... felt very welcome and enjoyed very much, great scheme! Posted Image

Id love to do a ride along but don't think any of the forces near me do that. Would I be eligable for A+S police due to my location being south wales?

Thanks

I would be ringing all local stations to see if they do a Ride Along scheme, if not I would then register my interest with A+S Constabulary for a Ride Along. Might mean a day trip for you but if you want something that bad then do research, never think! Posted Image
You've got nothing to lose by doing this!!! Posted Image

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply!
Didn't realise it goes on a station by station basis thought it would be down to the force itself.
I will be contacting all local police stations and also registering for A+S.

Thank you very much!

Just a question regarding your application to DPP, you say you failed at the vetting stage (on your sig) is this the assessment stage or actual vetting?

I work for SWP and haven't heard of us doing anything like this but might be wrong. what area do you live in? might be worth a letter to the C/Sup for your area to ask as they will be in a better position to give you an answer or pass it on to someone who can

Sounds like you had loads of fun!
One very important word of advice though is, never ever say the Q word! Because you can guarantee that when you do, a whole entire s**t heap of jobs will kick off at once..
:D

I do live in a SWP area (Neath). Would it be better to ring than sent a letter? Or send a letter as it would get to a person that can decide?

I'm not sure to be honest where I failed. I sent my application off, got dates for my fitness test but then the fitness got postponed for 3 months and just before I was due to take it I had a letter saying something along the lines of 'Your application has been forwarded to the Chief Constable of Dyfed Powys Police and it was under their discretion to reject my application'. I phoned up and asked and they said the Chief Constables decision is final and that they wouldn't tell me why. They said it could be down to me not submitting truthful information on the application or a third party. I know everything I submitted was truthful and to the best of my knowledge as I took photocopies of the completed application form and read through it thoughroughly to ensure I haven't missed anything out. The only reason I can think was my dad whom I don't have any contact with.

There is obviously something in your history or family that is not aiding your applications. To be vetted and rejected three times would indicate to me that enroling in the Force would now be very difficult. Without also knowing your history it would be difficult to assist or advise the best course to take, to help you. I would carefully investigate your applications to diagnose what the issue could be, criminal records etc etc or perhaps take them along to your local station and see if they are willing to look at them and maybe see where the issue is?

As Cookie says mate if you have failed the vetting they must have some concerns over your application especially if it went to the CC for review. I wouldn't like to comment on why your application has been refused only DPP would know for sure, maybe you should request the reason in writing some organisations don't like to discuss details over the telephone.

I hope all goes well for you Keiron as I can imagine there is nothing more frustrating than being refused for something you don't know or have no control over

Thanks guys
I know for certain there's nothing about myself that would cause rejection, only something about my father which can be viewed here.
Anyway, I suppose I will just write to Dyfed Powys Police again and hope light will be shed.

I hope they can give you a little more info but dont hold your breath. The results of SC clearance level checks which is the one police officers have to have cant be disclosed to anyone as the person who has caused you to fail might not want people knowing about whatever they did in the past. It can be very frustrating but there is usualy nothing they can tell you about why you failed.
