They're saying on the news, they are calling in specials to help out.
If anyone on here is going then stay safe

I doubt susex specials will be going to the MET, however sus pol specials could help to bulster up local resources (response etc) where officers are called away. It may be worth considering, if you can, putting in a few more shifts so that officers can be released to go to London. either way stay safe

I expect with pride this weekend they'll be reluctant to allow too many to go and help with the riots, as Gosling said if they send anyone I'm sure it will only be regs.

Yeah Met specials have been asked to report for duty. We're not getting any further info from our Network Ops Centre at the moment, other than football matches cancelled. Whether or not regs from 'leafy' parts of UK that are adequately trained will go to London and Met specials that aren't are sent to the sticks?

I know that Met Specials have been asked for. Some of my colleagues are. My manager even said that I could get paid release! I'm not being attested until Friday, but wouldn't mind helping out with a presence if and where I could (with tutors and what not)...

You're not going on duty without me watching your back!

They just said specials on the news. As said before, not going into London, just freeing up other officers that could go to London. What a crazy few days

I think you will find that no Sussex Specials will be deployed outside of the county, only PSU trained regular officers (mainly on rest days) are being tasked to assist with the Met. This does mean that with there may be a short fall in the next few days for resourcing NPT/NRT and some events (ie Brighton Pride this weekend) that may be an ideal opportunity for Specials to assist with. The key factors here would be the duration of these riots and the numbers of officers allocated outside the force area.

Obviously it goes without saying that we wish all officers involved with these operations to return safely.

SYP specials have been put 'on call' if the need arise

I have heard they have started calling some specials asking them what their plans are till Monday, think they are trying to plan available resources. As Ninja mentioned it will be covering those PSU officers who have gone to help out. PDU have also fired out an email telling people to be aware that shifts could be cancelled with little or no warning.

It to cover local resources and I believe its availability over the next two weeks. I would willingly go up to London if i was PSU trained and had a bit of experience with large scale riots. Ninja, my ass is still smarting after the Selsey scrap we had with about 100 yobs few years back in the high street.

Ricky, those were the days....that was a good night, quite unexpected but was nice to just get a thanks from the LST sgt for getting stcuk in (errm, I mean involved). Plus it just goes to show that you should always expect the unexpected!!! (Remember the armed robbery at Barnham - at scene within 2-3 seconds!!).

Yes, trust the ninja to be driving a LST van as it was the only vehicle available hence why they mistakenly thought we were PSU. I think there were seven nicks in about 10 minutes. Give us a bell matey on my usual number, it hasnt changed. If you fancy a jolly out with B section NRT give us a shout.

I remember having one guy in ground pin whilst watching some idiot drive his car in to the back of the van and there was nothing I could do apart from watch. Will give you a call Ricky to arrange something.

Had a brisk shift with Chichester NPT Support last night, mostly helping NRT out as they were down on numbers. But still managing to get most of our planned NPT tasks delt with.

Back in again tonight. :w00t:
