MET officers patrolling Brighton

On a trip to Brighton yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice that there were several MET officers in MET uniform patrolling the streets around Brighton Train Station, one of the officers was from as far afield as Haringey! (in north London) I was wondering why this was and is this common?

I would guess something to do with the Albion playing Spurs yesterday.
