Hi all

im Rich im 24 from Cheshire

i've been umming and airing for a while now about becoming a special as ultimately i want to get into the force full time within the next couple of years.
ive just left college after 2 years full time studying as a vehicle mechanic
so while im looking for work im going to go to the next recruitment seminar at Winsford on august the 11th

i've found ALOT of helpful information on this forum so there isnt really many questions to ask :p

is anybody else currently training/applying for the specials in cheshire at the moment?

From what I have heard whilst volunteering in Cheshire (as a PSV) recruitment in Cheshire will purely be from serving staff (PCSOs etc), SCs and other volunteers only. So if you want to get into the police as a career when they open recruitment, that will be your way in. It will also help you to decide whether it really is the job for you or not.
Best of luck.

Yes, usually very quiet in the Cheshire section I'm afraid. Most of the ps.com world seems to be located in the south...

Good luck with your application.

Threads like this get me itching to apply. I was rejected from Merseyside due to a strict sickness policy which I fell outside of, so I have to wait until the end of October before I can apply to Cheshire (6 month period from rejection).

They seem to go in spells with recruitment. I applied in Spet 2010, there were 3 seminars on the open day, then (I think) Oct, Nov, Dec & Feb. Nothing until about Arpil and then it's started again. There was an intake in Jan this year, March (Missed out due to failing medical) Sept and then another one planned for possibly Nov.
If all goes well (not just on your personal case) and they get enough to pass the grade, it can be 6 months from applying to getting in.

I don't think a wait of 6 months would bother me too much, I think it would be more a sense of relief of getting the application in and back in the process.
