A question for serving Officers and SC's - why do some officers have black stab vests and some have those high vis stab vests? I've seen officers who are PC's or SC's same rank but different color stab vests.

I have and have worn both. Currently I'm on black but will be changing back to Hiviz next shift purely because the current mandate is, I believe, hiviz for all. Personally I prefer the black; I believe it's more professional and certainly better for working from in vehicles at night. Just my two groats worth.

It depends on which shift you go out with, some prefer wearing black some go for the hi-viz, but there is a policy which states that officers should wear the hi-vis clothing.

Personally i prefer the black!

Ah ok, so Cambs police are issued with 1 black vest and one high vis vest?

I got two black, two hiviz and a covert.

Probably just Hi-Viz and covert. They do not routinely give the black ones out anymore unfotunately. I know for certain they do not order them anymore and that there is a waiting list for regulars who want replacements for their old tatty ones which will be handed out when uniform is returned back to stores for whatever reason

Also, just to add to the confusion, we are being told our armour is being changed in line with the collaboration policy with Beds/Herts. They dont wear hi-viz covers so to save money our ones are being custom made....erm, yeah right, so wheres the money saving there??.
