Nice one, i am waiting on a reply back after sending in my form also for Glos. How long was it before you heard anything after sending it off?

Where abouts are you based? Can PM on that if you want.

Chris

Hey Chris

It depends how many applications that they have to go through, it could be anything up to a week before you hear anything back,

I'm going to be based in Cheltenham, don't know what station yet.

Best of luck with your application

Andy

Hi Guys,

Passed the interview whoop whoop. sorry excited a little.
Medical on the 26th and fitness next month on the 21st. Once completing (Hopefully) this I will start in November.

Can I actually ask to be located in Cheltenham Central at any particular stage in the process or will I be allocated a station.

Hi Mark

Well done on passing the interview, that's the hardest part of the process out of the way.

Medical and fitness will zoom by and you will be training before you know it.

As per station postings they will look at your geographical location when deciding with LPA to post you to - it will also depend on the number of specials at a particular station, as they will want to have balanced umbers so not to overwhelm the mentors and station facilities (lockers and such), if you talk to resourcing and let them know you would like to be posted to Cheltenham Central they will take it into account.

I'm personally hoping to be posted at Cheltenham Central so maybe our paths will cross.

Best of luck with the rest of the process and if you have any further questions feel free to ask!

Well done to all who have made it through. Normally I would be at the pre-induction evening this week to say welcome, but I am away on holiday. If any of you are coming to Gloucester LPA and have any questions please don't hesitate to PM. During the training period we will keep in touch ready for when you start out on the street! I do hope to be able to pop in to say hi on your first day in the training school.

In terms of postings, as previous mentioned it depends on a number of factors and your preference is certainy one of those things. For those going through interview, make it clear if you have a feeling about where you want to work - or equally where you don't want to! While the default is normally to post you to the LPA where you live (and that makes sense for travelling after a late shift, etc) it can be flexible. Equally, if everyone on the course lived in one area we couldn't post everyone to the same place! One thing to remember is that postings aren't final. It is possible to ask to move, and people do also get asked sometimes if they would consider a move, if we need more officers in certain areas for some reason. In some cases, where you do your initial street training may not be where you finally end up working.

Enjoy the training, it will go faster than you think.

We only have cells in Chelt and Glos now so chances are your paths will cross, I see friends from my intake at Chelt all the time when booking in people to custody.

The Constabulary receives a very large number of applications, they have to sift them all through to see who will be invited through to the next stage of the process and who is unsuccessful, they will then need to send out the appropriate letters to those people.

To my knowledge they wouldn't be trying to rush new people through now as the next available intake is not scheduled until March 2012, as the last intake this year (November) is likely to be close to full, and I am aware that there are currently a number of applicants still undergoing the application process.

As you should be aware only 18 officers can be accommodated on any particular intake, so its first cleared first in when it comes to who gets to sit the next intake.

Just to give you an idea of numbers, for Septembers intake 150 people started the process, and we now have 18 who are starting the training later this month, so along the way 132 people did not make it past some point of the process, or they are now waiting for Novembers start date.

So in conclusion all I am saying at this moment in time is to be patient, spaces could be yet available for Novembers intake, but that will all depend on the current number of people who are in the late stages of the application process.

I hope I have cleared some things up for you, as ForestCop and Alan have said if you have any questions feel free to PM any of us, and we will be more than happy to answer them to the best of our ability.

They said i will probably have the interview later this year, so yes November intake is out. I dont think letters are going out anymore because when i said i have had not heard anything her instant response was "did you not recieve and email" not "did you not recieve a letter". I get there will be alot of applications but even she was supprised i had not got anything. I might have seemed impatient but it was down to a another post i had up regarding my application form and a family member maybe hindering my entry.

Now i know its just a waiting game and to be fair if it is March then it gives me more time to prepare, which is never a bad thing!

Thank you for the reply
