How does that work? The AC is a national SEARCH assessment which is for all forces? How can this count for nothing?

Dont shoot the me mate, thats from the BTP HR people, Im gutted to I was/am in the same situation. It is not on the website under the advert about how AC transfers are not accepted.

Bluebird.

I cant believe they havent put a limit on number of applicants, they should have done a telephone recruitment and put a cap on it.

I feel sorry for the poor recruitment team having to sift through as I doubt it will only be a couple of hundred applicants......hey the ammount of emails might crash the force networkd :w00t:

Number of applicants or applications ? The advert is still on the recuirtment website.........Ive managed to pop mine back this morning so fingures crossed.

Bluebird.

Does anyone know how many positions are on offer??

Also, where and how to BTP train their new officers? I am hoping that they will not follow the PLC route that the Met are now taking for their new recruits.

we'll lose around 50 on the LUL this year alone through retirement etc, so there's one place to look!.
Was told they aren't taking AC transfers?.

The City Police section house may well put some people up, or they go to a hotel, as Tadworth's gone now!
Mind you, you had to have to travel over 2 hours a day to qualify in the past?.
Intake on the 27/06 is the next one.
The metal theft teams are being expanded too and some of the outer London posts are looking to go 24/7,
Reading, Southend, Peterborough, Colchester are already with Norwich, Cambridge, 'in the pipeline'.
The NPT teams have been expanded over the last 2 years and Boris wants another 200 bobbies on the TFL system alone, but that would be split between btp and met.
The recruitment for AFO's is internal, though a good interest was shown, not sure it appealed to many people as it isn't all 'guns and glory'; more cnc / mdp style!, and this recruiting phase is nothing to do with the AFO role.
Quite a few internal SC /PCSO's going for this round of recruiting and not sure if they are taking external AC's...

PLC? The training should be held at Springhouse Training Centre Central London

Accomodation (should be provided) should be at Bernard Morgan House (*shudders :aok: )

The mets new way of recruiting new PO is a great way straight from specials and PCSOS. I can't see why btp aren't trying this?

Is there no London weighting even if you work within London?

There should be, I think the advert as its listed for nationwide just has the basic payscale but I know when I was on training, those on my course going to London were on 6k more so they qualified for it

They are and they do, but this I assume is being advertised externally as they need a large number of recruits,

I was a BTP SC who joined internally to be a PC and I think BTP were the first force to do this

If your a special is there chance to become a regular at some point rather than having to apply only when it's advertised publicly?

Vacancies for PC positions are advertised internally within BTP fairly often.

add on 2000 for home counties Colchester, Guldford, Reading, Milton Keynes, Southend, Ashford,

1000 for Ipswich, Cambridge, Peterborough, Brighton, Southampton

add about 6000 on top of basic salary, 4440 london weighting and 2000 s/e allowance so just around 31000 for london + free travel on tfl services ( tube, bus, tram ).

Indeed. Overcoming the formatting on the BTP application form is the first test in our recruitment process. :)

Aren't BTP officers paid exactly the same as their HO counterparts, with their only difference being slight in pensions?

To be honest Im not to sure on that, but with any pension you can transfer it into another scheme and buy time

However with your current pension, dont you qualify for free travel when you retire? I think even though ours are railway pensions we dont qualify for that

Im sure ours are railway, I know theyre not the typical Police one

if you noticed when you downloaded your form it was numbered in the file name

ApplPack****.doc

Though strangely I registered for the BTP recruitment website so that I have a login for the future and it gave me an application pack for the PC recruitment without me asking for one... I ended up with ApplPack1217

I suspect it means they're giving out 1500 application packs as opposed to only accepting 1500 applications
