I saw her come in a few days ago.

She is in a Z berth so general public would have been kept well away. The only visitors allowed on board have been organised parties like sea cadets etc.

Edit: Update

TWO people have been hurt after a shooting on board a nuclear submarine docked in Southampton.

The Royal Navy's newest submarine, HMS Astute, is in the middle of a five day visit to the city.

One man has been arrested by Hampshire Constabulary following the incident.

The incident took place on board Astute. MDP territory?

Although MDP were on scene at the time on the launch that has been there since the sub arrived.

I thought that but according to BBC, Hampshire Police are doing media liason so I assume they are just helping but I wasnt sure if MDP would deal with this or if it would be a HO situation

MDP have primacy and will share any investigation with Hants if they need help.

A man has been arrested after a shooting on board a nuclear submarine.

Two people are believed to have been injured in the incident on HMS Astute, which is currently docked in Southampton.

Hampshire Police said the incident was not terror-related and there was no risk to the public.

Several police vehicles were sent to the Eastern Docks at the Hampshire port and officers could be seen on the gangway of the submarine.

A police spokesman said they were called by the Ministry of Defence shortly after midday.

"It is believed two people have sustained injuries as a result of gun shots being discharged on the vessel," he said.

"Hampshire Constabulary and the MoD are keen to stress this incident is not terrorist related."

HMS Astute arrived at Southampton on Wednesday following 46 days at sea for a five-day stay.

It previously made headlines when it ran aground on a shingle bank between the Scottish mainland and the Isle of Skye and remained marooned for several hours.

The embarrassing incident in October last year cost Commander Andy Coles his command of the 328ft-long, 7,800-tonne submarine.

HMS Astute was named and launched by the Duchess of Cornwall in June 2007 before being welcomed into the Royal Navy in August last year at a commissioning ceremony at Faslane Naval Base on the Clyde.

The submarine's nuclear reactor means it does not need refuelling and it makes its own air and water, enabling it to circumnavigate the globe without needing to surface.

A former submarine engineer has told Sky News handguns would be kept on board the submarine but under lock and key.

Sky are copying the BBC's report. Check the local rag, it will be updated far quicker than both of them.

Not impressed by that statement, I should imagine the public are concerned that bullets have been flying around in a place where there is a nuclear reactor.

Ministry Of Defence statement :

"Two Royal Navy personnel have been involved in a firearms incident at Southampton docks where HMS Astute is alongside. Sadly, one has now died as a result of his injuries. The Royal Navy is now attempting to inform their families as a matter of urgency.

"A third Royal Navy serviceman has been arrested by Hampshire Constabulary and is now in custody. This incident was not terrorist-related and there is no threat to the wider public.

"We are co-operating fully with the police investigation and a Royal Navy Service investigation will begin in due course. All concerned family members should call the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre on 08457 800 900."

Defence Secretary Dr Liam Fox said:

"I am greatly saddened to hear of this incident and of the death of a Royal Navy Service person in this tragic incident. It is right and proper that a full police investigation is carried out and allowed to take its course. My thoughts and sympathies are with those who have been affected and their families."
