Apologies!!....I'm your'e dreaded Nightshift Security from Asda St Austell :p Nicki

If I am reading this correctly, you work as a security guard!!
Does this not create a conflict of interest between being a security guard and a Special Constable??

There is a difference,i am Internal Security, employed by Asda as a colleague monitoring CCTV so i don't have the badge!! wouldn't of been able to apply to Specials if i did.Hope this answers your'e question.Nicki

You obviously have a little trouble understanding,i am Security but am not hands on as SIA trained Security guards are, hence Internal Security, some supermarkets have external security... SIA trained, some have Internal... not SIA trained.I don't mean to seem rude but why the sarcastic comments, i don't need and have back up from other Security Guards...,normally talking to people in an appropiate manner is normally enough to suffice, which you should know being a Special? You don't have to be rolling around on the floor with someone to get a result. If they do kick off Police are called.I stop people for shoplifting,.... most of the time they come back in the store and then they are dealt with by the Police,if they wanna run let em run they'll only get caught down the road by the Police anyway.

I only stated what you said about watching a monitor, unless I got it wrong and you are made to stand whilst watching it.

HI everyone,

I hope you are all well and looking forward to your inductions. I am intrested because before being in my current role I used to work for The tesco internal security team. Doing a similar role by the sounds of it. When I went for the old recruitment process it was slightly frowned upon as they felt it was a conflict of intrest with a sia badge or not. Although if I had passed at the time I was going to move back to shopfloor work and had Tesco backing for this so there was no issue. Have recruitment been ok with you being an internal security officer?

All the best

Hi SNJC,When i originally applied to the regulars in 2008, i was doing the current job i am doing now. They didn't ask if i had a SIA badge but i put on my application form that i worked as Security in the "previous and current employment section",and nothing was said. When i applied for the Specials in 2010 they speculated on the forms that you would be exempt from applying if you held SIA, so i made a point of putting my role as Internal Security(still notifying them that i did Security hoping that they would have the understanding that i wasn't SIA trained) I also made of point of putting that in the job title that i hold, the different sitautions i deal with etc,...and that was the part of the application form where they asked you about other qualities etc, that you thought would help in applying to the Specials.Nothing has ever been said to me about it,so i'm presumed all was fine.I did expect them to query it but like i said..nothing.Youv'e kinda got me thinking now ....surely they know what i do for a living it was all in black in white? I may give recruitment a ring just to make sure.Nicki

Thanks Dan,You are right  as were posting on forum,i was on the phone to recruitment.Like you said, it is the issue with the SIA badge, recruitment have said that there isn't a problem and if there was they would've picked up on it by now.PHEW started to panic there.Nicki

HI all, I rang recruitment last week for a check on general progress re my application, they said forms are still be vetted and they had not yet sent out letters for the July induction intake but they would be doing that this week (after bank hol). They said that places for the July intake will be based on location and the areas which requires the support of specials first

Whatsup People,

Hope we're all keeping well, just a quick update, i phoned HR this morning as it's getting a bit close if we're to be on the July intake. The letters still haven't gone out yet and apparently they are still waiting for occupational health to get sorted. Don't know if this is going to mess everything up and we'll be on the October intake!! No news apart from that.

P.S. Nic, stop getting shoplifters i'm trying to eat my curry!!!!

I "made a few enquiries" (check me out with my police talk!!) last week and was told that they were waiting for all the vetting to come back before they started sending letters out.

Hi all,

I had an email the other day from HR.

They were waiting for one reference to come back, which ive now changed and they wanted a few more bits of info.

Once the reference is back with them, they said that all the info will be passed "upstairs" and all being well ill be offered a start date in October....and im medically fit.

Well at least you've got a start date buddy. :D

I wonder how long they'll take to tell me that I've got a new SC starting at Newquay???? If it's anything like last time I'll have retired before they get round to it

I mean, why do I need to know these things???? I'm only the flippin' Sgt after all :D

At least I see you at work, any others won't have that advantage. Maybe you should give 'em my mobile number on the induction weekend and tell 'em to get in touch direct.
