Hi, there are nearly 30 specials at St Austell at the moment, most of whom are probationers so they are not taking on any more for a while.

Of your 2 alternatives I'd go for Newquay , for one thing it's a lot busier and second we don't have that many Specials there. I may be biased though as I'm the SC/Sgt at Newquay :)

Cheers, Andy

Hi Andy,Nice to meet you :prone:!!!(So there are"local" people on here then!!) To be perfectly honest, out of the two,i would prefer Newquay,as i have previously heard Bodmin can be a bit"Q".I did find that quite shocking that you don't have many Specials in Newquay, didn't realise until one of the officers from St Austell mentioned it.Well alls well, that'll be three of us you will have to tutor!!That's if Dan and Steph don't mind me stepping on their toes :) Nicki

Nicki, the more the merrier for Newquay as far as I'm concerned. There are only 6 of us at the moment and 4 of those are probationers!!

That said I don't do that much tutoring these days as my shift pattern doesn't allow for enough continuity but you will see plenty of me.

I know Dan already, we are both Detention Officers at Newquay custody!!

Andy

Hi Baloo, good to hear someone is out there who is enjoying it! I'm hoping to be stationed in Exeter but still waiting to hear about training dates etc. I had to have x2 sight tests as failed my first unaided vision test (but passsed 2nd time no problem??!) and so this may delay things a bit.

Good Luck to everyone on the next intake! I'm sure you will have lots of fun with Devon and Cornwall as a special!
I've been doing it for some time now and i love it! where is everyone hoping to be stationed ?

Right bit of an odd sequence of events but here goes! Originally believed I was going to be in either the July or October inductions and have been waiting to hear back. However in work today got a phonecall from HR saying they were concerned that I hadn't replied to their phonecall 2 weeks ago about starting in May! I never had a phonecall, the last one I had was about uniform fitting at the beginning of April! Told them this and they said no they had definitely phoned me and had I recieved the confirmation letter. Haven't had that either. The girl on the phone then started getting a bit concerned as apparently there are a few others who they've asked about starting in May. Asked me if I could make it and luckily enough my manager has given me the time off!

When do I start? 2 days!!!!!!! Induction is this weekend, can't wait

Ok so this is my first post!

I am in the same boat as many of you, I have passes the Assessment Centre, The Fitness Test and had my uniform fitting. . . .But I am still waiting. I'm hoping that what was said about 8 weeks beforehand is true! I hate this part, the waiting inbetween with no idea which way things are going to go!

Ahh well, Fingers crossed for the lot of us! :)

Post Number One Done.:aok:

Wow just came across this site very impressed, didnt realise there was anything like this out there!:p

Anyway a big hello to everyone on here, but im sorry to say im starting to panic reading through all your posts on here. I have done my assesment centre and fitness, and sent all the vetting forms away back along but i have heard nothing since!!??
Im just wandering if theres anyone who hasnt heard anything yet either? As many of you have already had uniform fittings it seems..

If any one has any ideas or is in the same boat i'd love some input :w00t:

Dan you work for them, why are you surprised that you've not heard yet?

I believe there's a phrase about breweries that sums it up :aok:

Hi,phoned recruitment today just to see what stage my application was at,and they informed me that they are still waiting on vetting,i know both of my referees were contacted sometime ago,so its obviously the bigger checks that could be holding us all up.They also told me that they haven't sent out any requests yet for July training,so there is still a little hope for us all to get on July..., if all goes well. Thanks for the update Nicki, I was getting a bit worried it was just me that hadn't heard anything, although I remember them saying at our fitness test that vetting would only take ten days. Fingers crossed we get on the July induction as it's not too far away now.
