This topic has been started alongside the 'Training' topic to accommodate all posts regarding the recruitment process within Herts Constabulary.

This will include topics such as; the vetting process, the force medical, the assessment centre etc.

All posts relating to the recruitment process should be posted into this topic from now onwards and I will merge other related posts into it as well.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to say "Hi" to you all.

I'm totally new to this and have actually today just found out that my application passed the competency based part of the form, so very early days I know. Fingers crossed though!

Hey everyone :aok:

All proceeding well, if not a little slow (no fault of Herts Police recruitment, who have been nothing but brilliant so far) but just getting 'Official Permission' from my main employer as I work for the Fire Rescue Service. I expect (& hope!) to be invited to the Saturday September 17th Assesment day in Stevenage!

I'm prematurely starting to do some homework & research, anybody got any tips/ sources??
I've begun with the obvious, Herts Police own website, current operations, local NPT, a couple of books & of course this forum!!! :-)

Smiffy

TBH I'd start with concentrating on the Core competency questions for now, and where you are looking, along with your life experiences and current affairs should be fine for that, once you start training there is additional reading that you can either buy or look in the local library for.

Best of luck! :)

what i found really helped were a few books i bought from waterstones to do with passing the police recruitment process and a verbal reasoning Q&A book. you can get them online or just pop down to your local waterstones and look in the learning section near all the GCSE, A level etc. books :aok:

Thanks guys, appreciate your help. I've been looking into the 7 competencies and matching them up to scenarios I've encountered/ life experiences. I'll look at getting a couple of books like you mention king_swann - help me to get thinking that way and stretch my brain a little  !!

Thanks again :aok:

Cheers guys, really pleased. Yes paperwork was a bit OTT! Lol anyway was so keen, finished most of it last night as they emailed it all with my "you've passed" email!

Some of the Q's did make me laugh!
