Do you get issued with boots or is there an allowance ?
You get an allowance - I could tell you how much I think it is, but I'll probably get it wrong! Probably best asking Phil (if it's still him who oversees Specials training).

I've not had my Induction yet
Only been told i'll be working Salford.
Yes it is Phil, he's in charge of training specials and will do the induction. I believe that the allowance is £30 a year. This will only begin to be paid after you have done your annual minimum amount of hours (I think its just over 200 hours).
There are many threads and differing opinions on what boots to get.
Personally from my army days I swear by Lowas, but they are very expensive.
Stores at Openshaw are now selling boots, slightly discounted from the high street, so it may be worth asking about boots at your fitting.

I'll be getting there just after 8:00am so if you can get in about the same time we can have a chat mate.
Have a good night!
P.S. I hope this swelling goes down on my face tonight from my wisdom tooth it's making me look like a hamster

See you then
is there a dress code for tomorrow or is jeans and shirt ok ?
No dress code for uniform fitting, and you will be taking it off to try your kit on anyways.
Although officially you should always be dressed fairly smart when on any GMP property... officially

As far as I'm aware the boot allowance is £40 for every 208 hours and 12 months of service (I.e. you can't claim more than once every 12 months, or if you've worked less than 208 hours)
That comes from an X Div Special Sergeant, but I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Is he a scouser?
And that could well be the case, if I remember to find out, I'll post!

The problem is that if this is not done at weekends, then there are alot of officers, who will have to take holidays or un-paid leave from their employment to accomodate this. I for one fall into this group and I am not happy loosing a days pay for supporting GMP. We give enough of our time up for FREE without having to pay for the privillage.
It appears that the trainers want overtime payments for providing the course on a weekend, but why don't they just simply re-rosta their rest days...... Or even better, why don't they just simply volunteer their time... ?
