Make sure you read the letters section in the next Frontline, I'm sure there will be some views on it published there :aok:

Like wise, but I do actually like my current armour, and have only had it a couple of years so really I'm not that fussed.

After 5 or so shifts I quite like the look of the new armour. It is more comfortable to wear but you get hot easier!

Apart from the colour, it's great. Better fitting than my old one and good size pockets.

Worn mine for a full shift the other night.... yes it feels lighter, yes it is seems to fit better,, yes it does looks like a life jacket...... but all in all it is ok. The only complain i have is the padding on the shoulder (under the eppulate) is non existence, so the shoulder does hurt a bit after a while. Also I find it rides up when I am in the car driving.

being lazy without reading all the previous message, are these problems common with everyone? Is this something we just have to content with or will there be a recll?

I noticed on Saturday that there are a couple of large pallets in Inkerman at Netley with the new body armour, so it's just a task of distributing them I think.

I wasn't referring to a t shirt, I was referring to what the instructor called me Posted Image

I had guessed it was your beep test number, now I'm not so sure?

Did you have amazingly perfect spikey hair?

Nope, I wasn't referring to my number on my top during the beep test, but now you make me think about it I that it was 3 too. It was referring to my house number.

And no, I'm not that metro about my hair.Posted Image

I don't think I've seen an officer so scared of being asked to put his hands on his head during any policing activity before

Finally picked it up this morning: where is the Force crest on it?

Did anyone else have trouble in fitting the stupid thing? I can't get me to sit comfortably and I keep getting one of the shoulders all rucked up and not only is it not right and looks stupid, but makes it uncomfortable too.

Thankfully I will be at Netley on the 10th so will ask someone there if they can help me fit it.

I've worn my new one once, its marginally better as its a bit of a better fit, but it certainly does not seem noticeably lighter.
I miss the force crest on it, almost tempted to put one on, I've got a permanent marker !

There were reports of the shoulders lacking stitching support on many of the issued vests David, so you might have that problem. Also, many people didn't receive the same size they were measured at.

I don't know what to make of the whole thing, but one thing I will tell you is that many officers I know are wearing their old armour again. I wore mine once last week when on a semi-covert op and it felt much better than the new stuff, I forgot how light and comfortable it was.

There's an article in October's Frontline regarding the issues with the new body armour (Page 5)

Interesting article. I can't get my armour to 'sit' properly on my shoulders (and I have other concerns regarding shoulders which I don't want to state in open forum). I think it interesting to note that uniform is supposed to look smart: Well I fully agree, however, I've already seen some hi-vis stabbies looking jaded, grubby and worn. Also, where's the Force crest?

I must accept that it's new of course and rather like the black stabbie it might well 'mould' to me, but I have to say, thus far it's uncomfortable and initial experiences say I prefer my black jacket.

Completed the e-mail re. fitting issues - even though I did take mine along one Saturday when there to ask OST officers to look at it for me, which they did, and made a good job (thank you), one of the shoulder straps still 'buckle'.

I saw an officer with new style body armour in black. Does anyone know who are being issued these?
