For Internet Explorer users:
Paste the URL http://www.iespell.com/download.php into the address bar, and you will see four 'download now!' links - click the top one in the light pink box.
A new window will open with a big green 'download now' button, click the green button. If you get a warning message at the top of the screen saying that Internet Explorer has blocked the site from downloading to your computer, then click on the message and select 'Download File...' (although you may not get this warning, in which case ignore that bit).
On the next pop up window select 'Save' (not run). When it's finished downloading, locate where you have saved the file to (often the downloads section will be the default), and double click on it. Follow the on screen instructions and then when the box closes again that's it, it's finished.
If you then go to reply to any old thread on this forum (using the full 'add reply', not the fast one), you will see there is an 'ABC' button at the right hand side of your screen, just above the text box. If you click this once you've finished typing it will pick up on any mistakes and show you the correct spellings.
For Firefox users:
For Firefox there's an add-on, which you can download from here. This is an official Mozilla Firefox website so it's completely safe to download and use. Once it's downloaded it will ask you to re-start Firefox - once this is done you're sorted! Any spelling mistakes will have a nice wavy red line underneath.
The only downside of this is there is no 'ABC' button to give you suggested correct versions of the spellings (like when you're typing out a letter in Word for example), so you have to keep editing the word until you come up with the correct spelling.
I'm obviously aware these aren't the only two browsers, so if you have instructions to download spell check facilities for other browsers then please feel free to post them in this thread and I will then copy and paste it into this first post so it's all kept together (obviously I will thank you in this post for your contribution if you do, and might even add an award to your profile if I'm feeling generous )...
