I wanted to hear from specials who work in areas in Herts that im considering of being asked to be posted.

If people can give me the pros and cons of being a special in either:

-St Albans,
-Hatfield, or
-Watford.

Would help me out a great deal.
BTW I don't drive so parking isn't a problem as buses don't tend to use car parks lol.

I am going to 'big up' Watford.

1. 2 min walk to the train station
2. Busses pass right outside.
3. It's busy as hell
4. Cells are being renovated.

All of the three areas have the capacity to be busy, Watford more than the others for PO, I would tend to look more ate how easy/ difficult is it to get to, bearing in mind the capacity for 3am finishes, how well do you know those areas and how near home/ work are they and is this an advantage or disadvantage.

In that case;

Pros:
  • Really Busy.
  • You'll deal with things that people in rural areas might not get.
  • Everyone at Watford nick is nice and helpful.
Cons:

  • It's a big place Watford. I often get lost.
  • Public order (is cold this time of year) you get a helping of abuse.

It's not that cold! Sun was out today when I was doing H2H!!

I don't do those areas but public transport at the times you are likely to work won't be great. The euston line doesn't run 24 hrs like watford, neither does line to hatfield. St Albany however has a few 24 hour buses and has 24hr thameslink!
